Left Rosapennna after Sandy Hills yesterday for Donegal. Epic night on arrival starting at The Reel and finishing at McCafferty's. Donegal is a fantastic town!

 

Narin & Portnoo today. First several holes are inland from the dunes, I literally hit a shot from within ten yards of a cow. Nice stretch through the dunes and along the ocean. Lots of elevation changes, blind shots if you don't follow your caddie's instructions. IMO, weakest course we've had this trip, but still very enjoyable.

Regarding conditions, the farther south we go, the more burned out the fairways are. However, the playing surface is fine as are the greens. Anyone worried about drought conditions, it’s not a factor at all.

We are starting to plan another Ireland trip including the Northern Ireland big 3 (Portrush, RCD and Portstewart). Recomendations for a 4th course? I'm really looking for a recommendation on where to stay? A nice town with pubs etc up by Portrush and Portstewart?

Castlerock (near Portrush) is a ripper and Ardglass (County Down) is not to be missed. Cairndhu on the northern coast might also be worth a look. For a longer day trip you can take the ferry across to Ballyliffin (in the republic) and its two courses.

And Bushmills is the place to stay - a tour of the whisky distillery is a must.

Presume you are headed out of Dublin to RCD, I really like Baltray (County Louth) which is on the way.

 

Portrush is a nice town with pubs, just stay there, easy, plenty of smaller hotels.

We will be moving from Northern Ireland to Dublin so playing RCD on the way down. We are going to play Ballyliffin or Castlerock as the 4th round while up North. Played the Island last time in Ireland so maybe County Louth is an option this time around Dublin. I've seen alot of thumbs up on Portrush as a town.

Did you end up playing Enniscrone?

It was my second favourite after RCD.
