Is Tiger back?

Like Chamblee said yesterday, Tiger is consolidating a swing change and has results similar to year 1999 after his 1st swing change, so watch out next

Tiger will win 3 times next year, no Majors.

Then, to commemorate the 20 year anniversary of the Tiger slam

He will win all 4 Majors in 2020, the true Grand Slam.

The Batllestar Galactica will return home to Earth after viewing this from space and declare Tiger supreme ruler of the Cosmos.

Yes, but he’s never faced anyone as nerveless as Koepka before. Much more strength in depth nowadays too. He’s playing well, but wins will be much harder to come by.

Exactly. He shot a 64, for crying out loud, his best ever final round in a major, but it still wasn't enough.

Chances are, that out of the new generation, there will always be at least one, who doesn't fold, even when Tiger roars can be heard all over the course.

I still think that if Tiger stays healthy for the next four years, he has a good chance of winning two more majors, when everything falls into place for him.

Maybe even three, but that would break the internet during the next few majors after that.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

Three more putts in, less than a quarter-of-an-inch difference total, and he's got #15 today.

Apply that same logic to BK's round, and this tournament isn't even close. It's a fool's errand to play the "if only" game.

The difference could be argued is that Tiger hit three good putts that should have gone in- meaning literally luck is the reason they didn't fall. While Koepka did miss 2-3 short ones... those were just bad putts that never had a chance.

Speaking of luck:

Hitting driver on a tree lined course like TW did and not being blocked out or having a horrid lie even once is quite a bit of good luck, if you ask me.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

He did have horrid lies in the rough. Many times he got it up and down by scrambling with 50-80 yard wedge shots from the fairway. But hey, no credit is due for that side of it. Pure luck all the way.

While we are on the topic of luck, let's ask Brooks about that 63 he shot on Friday morning. Would he have preferred to get washed out in the afternoon and have to come back at 7 AM Saturday to play 29 holes? Pretty damn lucky to catch that side of the weather if you ask me.

Many times? Not in the final round, which was, as I must admit, all I saw. In that, he had one bad lie plus the plugged ball IN A LATERAL WATER HAZARD, which was playable without having to take a penalty drop. Thomas Pieter's ball just disappered in the high grass in the same hazard in approximately the same area.

On all other occasions Dottie Pepper said that Tiger had a perfect lie and a clear route to the flag, much unlike Adam Scott for instance, when he happened to miss the fairway.

And I wasn't saying that Tiger's good showing was a matter of luck. If you care to read my comment again, you will see that I was simply replying to all the shouldawoulda postings of Tiger fans who all thought that he was so unlucky, because three of his putts didn't drop and that without that bad luck, he surely would have won.

Which is exactly the typical blind Tiger adoration I have come to detest so much over the past 15 years. His putts did not drop, as did those of many other players, mostly because the greens were rather slow and bumpy on Sunday afternoon. Not a question of good or bad luck.

That was the sole reason I felt that it had to be pointed out that he was quite lucky with his breaks after horrid drives.

Which he was.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

He definitely had good fortune on Sunday (especially #17 and #9) but I meant overall for the week. He did have a couple of them on Sunday where he didn't have the "perfect" lies you describe. Poor tee shot at the 4th hole and laid up to 65 yards, wedged it to 5 feet and made the par putt. He paid the price at the 14th hole. Thick rough and struggled to get his 2nd shot to about 30-40 yards from the pin. Lipped out the 15 footer for par.
