Any correlation between time-of-day and your score?

My club comps are always on Saturdays...it depends what shovel of sht i've had to deal with at work the days running up, sometimes I am so looking forward to getting away from that rubbish week I'm too emotional and mistakes are compounded.

Not sure it makes much difference to me overall though, greens (Poa) will be fresh cut so roll truer I find, which means you better be on point with your putting speed :)

Looking at PGA Tour stats,DJ leads early scoring https://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.292.html with a 67.26 ave and #100 is 70.46. DJ is #2 in late scoring https://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.293.html with a 69.36 (Chris Kirk leads at 69.26, exactly 2 strokes higher than the early scoring best) with #100 being 70.79 (just over 0.3 higher). This is based on being 1st half or 2nd half of field, so not exactly time of day, but certainly a correlation.

I always figured it would be obvious, that you need to get up earlier for an early round. Rolling out of bed 1-2 hours before your tee time isn't enough. If you're teeing it up at 7am, I'm thinking 4:30 wake up call at the latest, which is why I don't play at 7am.

Two, do you drink? Gonna take even longer than that if you tied one on the night before, and even if you didn't tie one on, and just had a couple.

To me, amount of sleep and wake up time before the round would have the biggest impact. Certainly dew, green speeds, wind, and smoothness of greens would have an effect and change as the day goes on, but this would be minor than the sleep factor.

Good point with walking BMC!

I would rather walk a beast of a course at noon than cart at 8AM.

I just feel like I'm more "in it" and loose so to speak. Walking allows me to think more about my shots, get in the groove a bit more and plan things out as I approach the next one.

If I tee off early in a tournament round I can make myself get up at 5 or 6 AM and adjust my routine etc, but I definitely don't prefer it. I know i usually come home mentally fried and useless with an early tee time.

I play most of my golf after work (after 5pm, during the week). Maybe its the light, maybe im a little looser, maybe im just used to that time, but this is the time of day when I play best.

When I play on the weekends, we often go 36 holes (because we are nuts). As the sun gets a little lower, so does my score. I notice that my partners get worse, that may be the beers though...

The PGA will be a bit different as the greenkeepers are all over the course before, during and after play, it probably works differently for them where the earlier they play, the better due to speed of the greens and approaches.
