Ping Sigma2 Putters

Just picked up a Tyne 4 on a impulse buy. Personally I love the feel of the soft shaft. Reminds me of my old Bullseye pro feel from a thousand years ago.

Actually, that's the best part. If you think about it, you still had to bend over to pick up the flag left murdered on the green. No longer; simply put the ball in, walk up, lift flag, snag ball, replace flag, and save the spine. Perfect!

Great looking putters. I have the arna. Soft feel, rolls the ball great. Love being able to adjust the length of the putter. Cool idea from ping.

Just moved on my Sigma 2 Valor. It was a perfectly nice, well built, nice looking and feeling putter but I didn't fall in love :(

 

Spider Platinum back in. Looks awful, amazing on every other point. Maybe I should just accept its the one

The head of the black Tyne is 5 grams lighter than the Tyne 4. I play the lighter Tyne, but it still feels a bit heavy to me.

 

To compensate, I just re-gripped my Tyne with a 98 gram SuperStroke Traxion Tour XL 3.0. This makes the total club weight heavier, but the balance of the club is more to my liking. It still has a pretty high swing weight (E-1), so the head doesn't feel overly light. This grip is actually 3" longer than the standard grip so it overhangs the sliding tube on the Ping adjustable shaft. I installed the grip to overhang the tube by 1.5" on each end. The firmness of the grip core allows this to work well without the grip feeling at all floppy. It looks very clean as long as you like the look of a longer grip on this club. The grip has a "Tech-Port" on the end that gives me about an inch of open space (between the cover on the port and the adjustment screw on the shaft) so that I can add additional weight if I want to add additional counterweighting. I can still adjust the shaft length by removing the Tech-Port cap and then using a longer wrench to make adjustments. The extra length of the grip means my Tyne now adjusts from 33.5" to 37.5" (instead of the standard 32" to 36"); I'm currently playing the putter at 34" long.

I have the sigma 2 ZB and love the putter, but the grip actually moves a little bit. Does anyone know if the ZB uses a flare-tip .382 shaft? I have a black 370 shaft i would like to put in it but have not had them side by side and pretty sure it needs a .382 shaft. Thank you. Tim
