I only know my swing speed is about 100MPH. My distance is about 220meters.

I am using Big Berther 454 regukar shaft.

I had many lessons I,m playing off 15 handicap.

I have been playing for 17 years.

Now I am trying to reduce my handicap to single.

For that, I think I must increase my drive by another 20-30 meters.

Please advice

SS of 100 should give yo close to 230-235 carry if fitted correctly.

Take a look of the newer driver technology, go larger sweet spots on the face ( 460 cc ), new shafts which would give you max carry for your swing.

Get fitted, and demo those newer clubs, I suspect that you'll need a stiff flex or at least a stiffer tip. Callaway Big Bertha 454 is a good driver but not the longest and not the most forgiving one even from the family of Callaway.

You'll get 15-20 yards more for the right driver.

Find a way to fire from 200 yards out ( 3 or 5 woods, hybrids...), you'll get GIR on most of the par 4s and par 5s. Afte that, is to sharpen up your short game.

Have you thought about changing or adding a golf based workout regiment , weight lifting , stretching , something that gives you more shoulder turn or hip/ lower body rotation to give you more club head speed , it seems to work for the pro's it just might help you , cause i dont believe there is no way in God's green earth that you can gain 30 yards by changing drivers or shafts , 5 yards maybe but not 30 ..

Distance comes down to three things:

1) Using a swing method that enables you to make consistent sweet spot contact. Missing the sweet spot by as little as 1/2 inch can mean a loss of 20 yards on your drive.

2) Custom fit equipment. One time I hit two similar looking drivers that differed in loft, weight, flex, and length. I literally hit one 50 yards farther and just as accurately.

3) Swing speed training. Amateurs swing around 75-95 mph, professional tour players swing from 105-130, and the long ball guys can swing 135 to over 150mph. Once you're making good contact and are maxed out on your equipment, you've got to increase your swing speed.

Flexibility is important, but I don't think it's critical to hitting the ball a mile. Neither Sean Fister (a multi-winner of the Remax World Long Drive Championships) and JB Holmes (PGA Tour) make a backswing that reaches parallel...and they have plenty of distance.
I must be swinging faster than the LM's say, because I thought my SS average was 104 and I can carry the ball 270 easy. If you hit the sweet spot with a great smash factor you should be getting more distance than that.
a 104 SS isn't going to carry 270 easy at sea level, unless in a really strong wind.... or illegal driver.... 104 x 2.5 is only 260

There's been some great advice given but I'll still throw in my 'two penneth' for what it's worth:

In order to maximise one's distance one needs a custom built driver as the chances of buying something off the shelf at 48," with the most suitable shaft, head, and grip is almost impossible.

The most vital ingredient is the shaft. The correct head, and head angle, are important but not nearly so important as the shaft. Get a copy of your local 'Golfsmith' magazine and there you will find listed numerous shaft specifications including information appertaining to which shafts are suitable to your swing speed. Have a close look at low bend point high trajectory shafts and take professional advice as to their suitability to your swing. Even if you elect for such I doubt that you could manage a head angle of below 8.5 degrees, but again take advice.

The best heads are not widely advertised and I won't mention names in case I am accused of advertising. Actually, I receive no sponsorship whatsoever.

Grips are a matter of personal preference. I use Lamkin Torsion Tour Series Oversize with a lot of undertaping. But very likely you would prefer something different which is just as effective.

But, at the end of the day whatever you put together will only marginally help. As has previously been correctly stated you need to hit fast, smooth and well. There is no magic equipment out there.

LOL

This is one of the best post i have seen since I have been on this site..... LOL So funny

If you want info on how to hit the ball longer you are going to have to GIVE GOOD details of your swing and launch info and Stop dreaming..... If you have been playing for 17 years then this is your MAX.. you need to understand that you have peaked and learn to hit Long shots tot he green.. Try some Hybrids

Thanks for the laugh buddy!!!!!!

CLA225 not everyones a superhero like you

first of all

get fitted for a shaft

even if you dont want to spend the money to go on a launch monitor

go to golf town, hit some clubs, theyll set you up with a head and shaft that suits you

hit the gym, work on your legs and core muscles

do flexibilty exercises

try different swings, see what works for you

im a 18 year old

115 swing speed

130-140 if i rip at it

i also notice golf spikes make a huge difference, never wore them until this season :)

use a cobra xspeed with a X stiff fuji 330 in the air, 350 with the roll. 12 second hang time

i like to play the ball off my front foot and much farther from my body

i tend to have a really big turn as well

play around and see what you like the most :black eye:

good luck
