Played it about a year and a half ago. From what a friend tells me though, it’s usually in pretty good shape year round.

Silverbell yesterday with the men’s club. Course was in playable condition. Some bare, soft spots in the fairways but they are trying to grow the grass in a lot of bare areas around the course. Greens were running decent. Held an approach shot well. +3 overall (after being -1 at the turn).

 

Del Urich on Friday. Greens were furry (just need a good mowing) but course was in good shape overall. +1 on that round.

I played Del Urich today.

Course in pretty good shape, although they are seeding bermuda to a lot of dead spots in the fairways, and there were quite a few wet ares around as I had a few mud balls.

Greens were rolling nice, not too slow....

Had a nice 75 (+5), which id great for me lately and after the 7th hole I had to wait on every shot for 7-10 minutes, which drives me nuts.

I had to cal the clubhouse as a group thee holes up was 3 holes behind ( at 9 am!)

Ell Rio got whacked by the storms Saturday, bunkers full of water Sunday. One of the big trees behind 11 green is no more. Tee boxes and green aprons a bit rough, I think it's the result of the Bermuda having to fight the overseed to reestablish itself. The pond on six is half empty (and stinky) again. I need to ask if the plan to fill it in is back on, after not happening a year ago. Despite it all, I had a good afternoon, as I always do. The greens were actually in pretty good shape, as were most of the fairways. And at $23....

I forgot to report conditions for Quarry Pines on Saturday. Tee boxes and fairways were in good shape. Greens were average, a tad hairy and slow. Nothing too outrageous, however. The driving range was closed with no notice.

Driving range is closed until the housing construction is complete. The course lost a court battle over it (which is complete and utter BS) and they are losing a ton of money because of it. Shame too.

Arizona National yesterday.

Course is in good shape considering the lack of rain and all the work they are doing on it.

They aerated the greens a second time 2 weeks ago ( first time was 6/4-5), and they are leveling 6 or 8 tee boxes that really needed it (completely ripped out and being resodded) . Weird to play some of the holes from odd yardages and angles I hadn't experienced before. The par 3's especially were completely different.

They are also working on quite a few bunkers.

Unfortunately, I have a bit of a bitter taste as I bought their summer pass ($500) and if I had known they we going to tear the place up all summer, I wouldn't have done it. I do get unlimited range access, but out of the 18 weeks of access to the course, they've already made suboptimal conditions for 4 weeks due to aeration......then they rip up half the tee boxes......I feel like I was ripped off.

I’m also interested in this! Our club is playing Mountain course next weekend. Then again I’ve never seen Ventana in bad shape so I can only imagine it’s as good as always. Greens probably a bit firm and slick.

Ventana Mountain course this morning.

Course is in pretty good shape overall. Some scratchy places in the fairway, but otherwise pretty decent. $32 bucks was a deal!

Greens are pretty quick, but haven't completely recovered from aeration about 3 1/2 weeks ago.

Back nine all greens had a fine layer of sand on them which made stopping the ball inconsistent.

Pace was good as well.

Sewailo is in excellent shape, as always. The group in front of us was 2 holes behind and they got pissed when we asked to play through. Good stuff lol.

Aholes are everywhere. Twosome in front of our 3 some was 2 holes behind a 4some.

One of the 2 was playing 2 balls each hole, along with usual ignorance of how to play from a cart. Thankfully, they quit at the turn. Oh, did I mention they were 10 minutes late for their tee time? They still wanted to go ahead of us. Some people!

Starr Pass this past Sunday. Fairways were spotty and in typical summer shape. We had a lot of rain Fri-Sat. so there were quite a few mud balls out there.

Greens were if really good shape as were the bunkers.

Played Rattler and Roadrunner 9's. Overall pretty nice course that I'd only played once before. Ill give it another shot before summer's over.

Del yesterday. Course is green with plenty of grass everywhere, but that also means shag on the green. Shot 69 (-1) with two stupid bogies. Overall though no real complaints except they need a new cup cutter. Whatever they are using does not make sharp, clean cup edges and ends up looking like the cups were there for 3-4 days.

Starr Pass on Sunday. Conditions were exactly as Rain Shadow described. The greens were so soft, I was sticking long irons in their pitch marks. The conditions of the greens made me forget that the fairways were trash. For $25, it was a steal.

Del yesterday. Ugh. Greens punched and sanded and the rain has grown a ton of grass that they seem like not mowing. Club is playing North Sunday (got my final match play) so I hope to god they do something to make it a little more playable.

Played Dove Mountain today. Unfortunately the course is in pretty rough shape. The greens were slow and very shaggy with numerous bald spots on nearly everyone of them. The fairways were hard and dry. Still a decent option for $33.

Everywhere is getting ready for overseed. A lot of the local courses are in rough shape right now it seems, especially since there hasn't been much rain this summer.

AZ National fairways are a little ragged in spots, but you can see where they are really doing a lot of work on the course. Leveling tee boxes, patching/sodding the worst of the bare spots and fixing up the worst of the bunkers.

The greens are in pretty good shape, although a bit grainy.

They close for overseed 9/23.
