Last time I played it, it was 4 days over two weekends. It's been years since then and my game is off the rails right now. Perfect time to play great I suppose.

Last year it was just one weekend, but all the previous years it’s been over 2 weekends. At least this year El Rio and Enke aren’t part of the rotation.

Played El Conquistador (Canada Course) for the first time yesterday. Conditions were great but I am just not a fan of the layout at all. One of those courses where they had to make "Mickey Mouse" golf holes because they didn't have enough land to build it properly. Reminds me of a more commercial Starr Pass.

AZ National yesterday. $37 + tax at 0935. Course was really busy and we had a slow 4some in front of our 3some. Still managed 4:15 in tough, windy conditions.

Course is in great shape. Bunkers are improving, but about 50% of them still need work, but they are way better than last year when OB was running the place.

Managed a 77 from the blues, 6400/70.1/139. I missed 3 legit birdie putts inside 12 feet.

Best round I've had in a while. Played with a couple of really nice older guys that were a pleasure to be around.

I played Ventana Canyon Mountain Course today. The tees and greens were flawless but the greens were punched and sanded. Would not recommend right now. Needs at least 3 more weeks for the greens to come back. They were rough.

Played North yesterday ($36 walking). Course was in good shape. Greens somewhat firm and a good medium speed. Played like absolute dog crap and shot 85 from the tips. Driver was garbage and putting was so so.

Starr Pass today in the 30+ MPH winds, don't think Ive played any worse in my life than I did today lol. Course is in good shape, greens are decent. The practice green was punched but the courses greens weren't. I think we were the only group of golfers out there today.

Wow, that place had to nuts with the winds that high.

I’ve only played it once and it was tough enough with the normal swirling winds...

It was awful. I did not enjoy it one bit. At least a two club wind for a majority of day.

I believe they do I’ll find out details about it. I know a few people that play in it. I think Wednesday’s but don’t quote me on that

Did you get any feel as to why not many golfers were out that day other than the wind. My perception from perusing golf now for Tucson since March or so is that Starr Pass is not budging as much on their rates(as compared to other places like Ventana or Dove Mountain) now that the"high" season is winding down or over. Could be wrong though. As hard as Starr Pass is one would think they would lead the way in super duper hot deal rates as the weather heats up.

Yea I would agree that they need to drop the rates a little more. Heck Dove Mountain is only $41 right now which is like $15 less than Starr Pass. I don't know what the deal was, I have not seen a course that dead in a very long time.

 

I like Starr Pass, I really do but I will never go out there again with winds like that. Probably the most miserable round of golf Ive ever played. The course was nearly unplayable. There were about 4 flagsticks that were bent from the pin causing damage to the holes because of the winds. Some of the cups were nearly coming out, the actual cup itself was right at the top of the lip of the hole.

$20 for Forty Niner today. Got around in just over 3 hrs. Course is in pretty good shape compared to the last few times I played it.

I know it doesn't get a lot of love around town, but it's cheap and in good shape....I'd rather play it than El Rio if I'm going old school with doglegs and small greens.

Greens were holding shots for a change and rolling pretty quick.

Great deal at 20 with cart....

Summer Heat is gonna kick in next week.....time to play some of the high end courses for (relatively) cheap.

Gotta get up to Dove Mountain again, maybe Tucson National or a staycation at La Paloma.

I don't think so, unless you know a member. I got asked to join a skins game on Fridays with one of the Docs I worked with but I work every Friday.....

Tucson National is still expensive as heII even during the summer time. I think a year or two ago they were still charging like $80 in the middle of July. Hopefully it’s changed but for that price I’ll go play Literally anywhere else in Tucson.

Wish i was. Going out of town to San Antonio for a AASM Sleep Conference. Won’t be playing until Haven against Forrest Robinson (should be a good match). Good luck on the putt off Sunday. I imagine the course will be in immaculate condition as always.

Ventana Canyon, Canyon course Sunday. In pretty good shape as usual.

3 weeks out from aeration, the greens were tricky as all get out. Very grainy, uphill, into grain you needed driver...LOL

Down hill with grain...super fast. Extreme differences. Everyone in our club had a rough time with the speeds.

Another week or so they will be perfect, especially with the heat kicking in this week.

Mid week green fees $34-40.

BTW, I prefer the Mountain course over Canyon slightly.

Played Sewailo today, basically as pure as a golf course can be. Absolutely awesome.
