Cobra F9 compatible with F8 adapter?

Qwiklap

Recommended Posts

I saw that they now have multiple lofts for F9. Do they have a new adapter? Or do F8/F7 adapters work with the new head?

The Cobra MyFly8 adapters for drivers are all the same.

Β

The numbers on the barrel are specific to the model but the adjustment range is the same so if you use the adapter for an F8, which goes from 9* to 12*, with a 9* F9 then the adjustment range will be from 7.5* to 10.5*.

Follow up question. I have an f8 adapter that goes from 9-10.5. I just bought a F9 9* head. Maybe I’m over complicating this but surely

Just had to do this for my F9 for my Bio Cell+ MyFly8 adapters. You need to find what the stock setting was for the head that adapter originally was designed for. For me, that was 9.5 on the adapter. So a 9.5 setting gave me 10.5 on the F9 since I got the 10.5 F9 head.

Looks like your adapter (9-12*) has 10.5* as the standard neutral setting. That should be the setting that gives you the stated loft of your F9 head. All the other settings are just +/- from there.

Just wanted to follow up by asking the exact opposite. I am gaming an F8+ head, stock adapter is from 8-11, and am considering purchasing a shaft that has the F9 adapter. So does that mean if I played it with the shaft set in "STD", it will play as 9.5, which is the midpoint of the F8+ adapter, and most likely the static loft of the F8+ head?

I had a 9.5 degree F8+. Moved the shaft to a 9.0 degree F9 head. This is what it looks like:

Any Cobra driver after the Amp line uses the MyFly adapter. You can even put a fairway wood adapter in a driver and vice versa. They all work the same though the numbers or marking will be different. If stock head loft is 9.5 for exampleΒ you are adjusting up or down from there regardless of the loft showing on the adapter. If the adapter was from a stock 10.5 head that setting is your 9.5 standard loft in the different head.Β
My old bio cell pro 3 wood looks funny with 7.5 in the hosel window but that’s 12.5 in my 3 wood. 🀣

I apologize if this question has been answered in the responses above, but I really want to make sure I'm not messing anything up or going the wrong route.

Β

I just purchased theΒ Cobra King Black One Length Utility 3 iron that adjusts from 18* - 21*. I had been stalking them a bit and pulled the trigger on a regular graphite shaft. However, I'm going to need to throw a stiff graphite or steel in there. Given it is a one length club, will any one length shaft with the adjustment adapter do the trick?

Β

Any recommendations on what to do or where to look to swap this out with a stiff? Appreciate any and all assistance. Totally knew to the Cobra system and don't get out to golf nearly as much as I'd like (thus noΒ cutting edge knowledge in any way).

Β

The adapter used in the utility is a different diameter than the ones used in the driver and fairway. It is also different from the hybrid adapter so if you are buying a new adapter be aware of that.

Β

Pulling the shaft and re-using the adapter is easy enough so if you have access to a clubmaker I'd recommend that route.

Β

As for what shaft to use, I believe the one length plays at 6i length so you'd need to replace it with a 6i shaft. Since the uses a .370 parallel shaft that will generally mean getting a shaft and trimming it according to the 6i guidelines although some iron shafts (Nippon for example) come is specific lengths even for 0.370 diameter.
