Short story. I was stationed at Dyess Air Force base in Abilene Tx in 1971 and every payday I'd go downtown to this awesome record store and buy a album. The owner was cool as hell and could always recommend some great LP. I asked him if there was anything new. He handed me ZZ Tops first album and told me that this band was gonna be big. I wore that album OUT!! A few months later they played at some good sized hall in Ft. Worth so me and a couple buddies went to see them live. They were so damn good. We were right up front and I swear my hearing was messed up for 3 days. I had played in bands since I was 12 years old but Gibbons was so good you swore there was another guitar player offstage playing along.

Now that I think about it, adjacent classrooms HAD to be envious of us rocking, dancing and laughing.

 

Our class was a mixed bag of races and genders who got along swimingly... while the "adulting" world outside try to influence us otherwise.  Thank you Mrs Patterson, Big John (unusually large "robot master") and Beth (unusually "matured" girl).
