Does this seem like low face contact

Got a chance to hit my driver in the simulator. Playing a Cobra AMP 9.5 with an NV75 s. Well struck shots got me in the low 160’s ball speed and 2400-2700rpm of spin with a nice draw and carry in the 270ish range. I hit a bunch of shots that felt fairly solid and had almost zero curve but ball speed dropped into the mid 150’s and spin jumped above 4000rpm of spin and carry was below 250. After a bunch of shots I could tell after impact that it would be a short straight spinner. Does this seem like low face contact or is there another issue at play?

Second question, can shaft profile lead to low face contact. I was hitting an XR16pro in the sun with a V2 76 s and was consistently getting spin in the high 1700-2100 range with low launch.

No, it's your swing.

And I don't mean that in a bad way, but are you good enough that you deliver the face in the same way 95% of the time or load the shaft the same? More often than not incorrect length, and then incorrect weight are the causes of inconsistent contact.

No worries, I certainly am not a stellar golfer. It seems to me the face must be being delivered decently as those miss hits are pretty much dead straight, just short and spinny. I guess the question is, is the straight, short, spinny flight caused by low face contact?

1. Yes. The high spin rate usually accompanies a low launch angle.

2. Not so much directly, but indirectly, it can effect how you deliver the club to the ball.

Dont underestimate fatigue too. Some get infront of a launch monitor and just swing for the fences a 100 times to get their numbers.

If you truly want to know, go back and hit in the sim again with some foot spray on the face or contact tape. I'm a low face miss kind of guy and I couldn't say the profile always looks the same from ball flight. Usually too much spin, but sometimes it climbs and balloons and sometimes it is straight and runs for ever. Probably both launch angle and where you miss contributing. Only way to know is to use something that imprints the ball on the face. Good cure is to focus on maintaining spine angle through contact.

Thanks.

As for the shaft's role in this, that's kind of what I was thinking when I was posing the question.

Good call on using footspray to check impact location.

I wouldn't discount the shaft playing a role. I agree with the other post that most drivers are way too long, so once cut to an appropriate length they are way too light, throw kick point on top of that and you're probably doing what I do which is stand up right before impact. Sometimes you time pushing up off the ground correctly for the ball position and sometimes you go early. Guys that go late will drop kick it, block it, or hit it off the heel for their miss. You can always try teeing it up higher and remember that a bit high on the face will give a ton better numbers than low.

I guess I should mention I am playing my driver at 44.25". That is one reason I went with the NV75, to add some weight back. Plus I've got some lead tape on the head to get the swing weight decent. As you mention, ball position could potentially be an issue. I noticed I wasn't getting those shots with the XR16 pro I was hitting, potentially because it was a longer shaft and I was teeing it up further forward to accommodate that. Perhaps I need to adjust the ball position back slightly.

I do tee the ball pretty high actually. I always have a hard time at the golf store with those stupid solid rubber tees either being too short or too tall.
