Golf Bags with "Balancing Discs"

Does anyone know the secret to getting a modern golf bag with a self balancing disc to sit right?

I've been on the hunt for a golf bag for some time and the 3 I have tried thus far (2018 Titleist, 2019 Titleist, 2019 Ogio) all have a moveable disc in the middle of the straps as opposed to a static web of fabric which used to be standard.

I like my bags to lay higher at the top but I have found with all of these bags, no matter how you adjust the straps to make one shorter than the other, the disc balances it out so the bag lays level on your back. This is a problem because a fully loaded bag has all the eight at the top and the clubs will gradually slide outwards.

 

Am I missing something in this new design?

It's designed to do exactly the opposite of what you want it to do. The straps don't move independently, they balance themselves out, as you can see in the description. I think you should either make your bag less top-heavy so the clubs don't fall out, or go back to any of the other plethora of bag offerings that don't have this feature

Adjusting straps to fit you seems very easy and quick **VS** this over thinking sounds good on paper design

Lol the feedback from Ogio / Callaway support was to put more balls in to weigh it down

Kind of hard to balance the weight of 14 golf clubs to be honest.

Shortening the strap that attaches to the top of the bag, while lengthening the other strap (trying both sides of each strap) will let you find the optimum settings with the bag slightly tilted as you desire

What you say "all eight at the top", what are you referring to?

 

I see most people that carry their bags they have it level.

You don't want it perfectly level. Club head side should be about 15 degrees above bottom of bag.

Sorry - that is supposed to say "All weight at the top" - if you make a golf bag sit level and add clubs they will slide out, and te bag will try to balance by lowering the top end.

 

The correct way for a bag to sit (in my opinion) is for the bag to be lower at the bottom than the top and this is a better balance. Less club slippage, less jangling.

 

Plus having a fixed point (as opposed to moveable discs) gives the user the ability to be precise and set the bag however they wish, be it level OR tilted.

 

Maybe it's cost cutting - certainly removes materials. But I don't like the trend.
