Washing Titleist Aussie Hat?

I just recently bought two of these hats on a year-end BOGO, both white, one with the blue lettering, one with grey lettering. Planning on taking at least one of them to Hawaii in a few days and it will be due for washing by the end of the trip. They certainly aren't the most-flattering ( the "wife test") but they feel quite comfortable with great protection the few rounds I have played with one on.

 

No washing instructions are on the hat. I'm mostly concerned about color-fastness.. For Tilly hats and other wide-brim ones we have always put them in the washing machine on delicate in one of those mesh bags, then air dry them. Then use the knee if necessary to fill out the crown again.

 

Sound like a plan? Can anyone comment on the color-fastness and method they use?

 

**Edit: Thanks for the comments. My wife washed it a mesh bag on delicate wash like other hats I've had and it came out fine. Ready for a few more rounds before we head home to rain.**

Top rack of dishwasher with the “soap” I use for my daughters bottles (basically all organic non chemical stuff) . Over time the “flop” will flop more, but color looks nice.

I only wear white hats, so I've had to clean a lot of them over the years (including my Aussie hat). The method I have the best luck with is to spray them with some sort of spot cleaner (Shout, Spray and Wash, etc) and let them sit for about an hour. Then scrub with a soft white bristle brush. If there's a difficult stain, I may use some dish soap and repeat the process. Rinse with warm water and they'll be good as new.

I have one of these and a half dozen other brands of wide brim hats in white, blue, camo and other colors (fair skin and burn like bacon in a frying pan so I stay protected). When they need washing, I just throw 'em into the washing machine on gentle cycle, cold water and air dry them. Never had a problem with any of them......
