Ping I530

Has anyone tried it yet?  I am currently gaming New Level 902 OS irons with CTaper Lite shafts.  I really like the 902s, but I am intrigued by the 530s.  I am curious how they would be in retro lofts.

Nah man.  I had i525's, liked them fine, got romanced by the new Mizuno PRO 245's and like a dummy traded my i525's in.  Not really loving the Mizunos so ordered the i530's last month while on vacation.  Whats the saying about "idle hands"?  Seems I've bought a number of golf clubs while on vacation.

I’ve tried them and was blown away at the consistency and forgiveness. Was getting almost the same number no matter where I hit it on the face. Wish I had the cash 😂

Mine is when I’m visiting my mom and I’m sitting around with nothing to do…..anyway, back on topic.

I hit them indoors and they were extremely consistent and long (185 ish 7i).  They were a little low on spin.  I don't swing well indoors so I am thinking retro spec on grass with a premium ball would be quite playable.

Picked mine up last night. Hit the on the range for an hour. Shot my career round today 3 over for a 75. These are amazing!

This combo is absolutely the best combo off the shelf I have ever hit.

The irons feel amazing and are super forgiving. They don't look like big chunky irons, but are as forgiving IMO.

Yes they are long. Yes they are hot...but I can still suck back a ball with a chrome tour if I want.

 

I was lucky enough that these came available when I took my mizzys back within the 90day. Beat out the HMP hands down.

What shafts did you go with?  I am torm between the I530s with retro spec lofts or a set of PXG Gen 6 ps.

What are you doing for wedges? Did you get the U wedge?

What type of distance are you seeing out of the U and W?

Mine showed up today and I was able to spend an hour at the range on my lunch.  They don't go as far as the lofts would suggest, although I was hitting into the wind today.  It seems they fly the same distance as any other clubs I've owned.  Having just sold my i525's not long ago, I think these feel and sound just like them.  Keep in mind this is with range balls.  Even with strong lofts (I went with standard lofts) they fly high and stop.  My Mizuno PRO 245's had very low spin on the launch monitor.  Haven't had a chance to hit these on trackman yet, but they seem to spin quite a bit more.  Was middling all the irons and a little heel side for some reason on the 6 iron (longest iron in my set).  They are definitely more forgiving on the toe side than the heel.  Hope to get back up to the club after work and maybe play a few holes with them on grass.  I have been having some elbow/arm pain and decided to go with graphite shafts.  Alta CB in stiff flex FWIW.

Don't feel as good as I'd hoped and not quite as forgiving as I'd hoped.  And I'm a degenerate club ho.

They are great. I was going to go retro lofts, as I am a slow swing speed player, but club fitter at Ping suggested not to, and I am super happy.

What kind of swing speed and launch are you getting? I'm considering going retro loft, but I must admit the standard jumped off the clubface for me and I barely break 75mph ss.

I’m around 75 mph with seven iron. That said I am a good ball striker, but standard lofts are fine. Ping have said they can bend to retro spec at no cost if I decide I want that, but don’t see the need.

Ordered mine in standard loft and I probably swing a 7 iron high 70’s.  Even with what looks ridiculously strong lofted on paper they still fly high, drop and stop with all but the thinnest of strikes.  Played the front 9 at my club last night all irons and got away with some really terrible strikes that still ended up on or very near the green.

I have the I530's 5-U.   My wedge set up is the ping S159 52*s/12 and 56* h/10.   Used to have a 58* and have not missed it one bit.

Curious if anyone kmows how long these are taking to deliver. Ordered 4/25 through dicks they but i can’t view any type of information through dicks or ping. 
 

they told me a dicks about 2 weeks but I’m finding that hard to believe. Maybe 2 weeks to make them and another week or 2 before i get them id imagine

Ordered blueprint s/ i230 combo through my club and was told directly from ping 2 weeks. As long as they have the shafts in stock (they offer several stock shaft options so sometimes not the case that all are in stock at the moment) so if you didnt order anything crazy exotic I would believe the 2 weeks.

Thanks guys you know how it is when it order new clubs 🤣 our league starts tomorrow night and I’m skipping out until i get my new clubs in. Was trying to get some sort of idea to let league know. 
 

my only issue was that the shaft the fitter recommended they didn’t even have in stock at the store. I want to say it was the dg mid 100 but i don’t even remember and the receipts at dicks are kinda crappy as they just ordered it through ping’s website from the store.

Also ordered 5-u. Going to play 54.10s and 60.04m for now. I thought i read on the ping website the regular loft on p was 42.5, u was 47, so i keeping my 60, decided to do away with 56, and switch to the 54.  I’m not the greatest golfer in the world tho so take it for afar it’s worth. 
 

I’m thinking with my setup having the U bent to 48 would break up my gaps pretty evenly. I’m just going off memory from a few days ago so i could be wrong on the stock lofts.
