I agree, actually. I think it all comes down to expectations for Rory always being so high based on his ceiling. Hard to remember only three or four players ever really sustained dominance in the game and only two ever did it to the level we would expect from someone who looks as good as Rory does when he's on. That being said, five years without a major (considering so major injuries) has to be a consideration in conversations like this

Agree with this 100% - if he wasn't getting enough coverage for his game (debatable) he's making up for it by showcasing his "personality".

It is funny how fast he has gone from playing the underdog no one appreciates me role to the I am king and no one can touch me role.

The fact of the matter is that on any given day that player who keeps it in play and makes the putts will win the tournament. Just too many good players out there today to say that any 2 of them are (or could be) rivals.

I for one love when Brooks gets a chance to speak in public, and more so when it is a live interview.

I respect what hes done in the majors in the last few years but hes far from a dominating player who contends and wins often. ill see how the next 5 years go for him. I hope im wrong but i dont see a repeat of his major performances. I think it was a perfect storm of big ballparks at the right time and soaring confidence. Im sure he will contend and will be a factor but i cant see a repeat. Rory might have a great second act to his career and bag a few majors but as of now its Rory and its not close. Brooks talks like hes tiger but hes not

> > >

I do think he has the game and the on course mental toughness (that's the key because I think the mental toughness enables making the clutch putts or, in Rory's case, not making them) to win another 4 majors. Why not if he stays healthy?

> > >

> > >

> >

> > I guess we will see but he seems really insecure about everything all the time. The clutch putts eventually stop going in for everyone unless youre generational or semi generational. I dont think its just mental toughness just law of averages. He'll be 30 in a few months and just had some more surgery. Anything can happen but ijust dont see it. I could be wrong and im not rooting against him but i have to see it to believe it.

>

> To a lesser extent, I thought Jason Day was going to dominate the world rankings for a few years... and we all saw what happened to him!

> BK has probably more game then JD but it's easy to slip down the rankings when the putts stop going in

There have been only a handful of players that could handle being on top. Tiger and Jack are obvious. Greg Norman had all the talent in the world but couldn't handle the pressure coming down the back 9 in Majors. Rory looked like he had it all, but the last 5 years have been a head scratcher with him in Majors. It's rare to find the guy that ups his performance in pressure situations. Brooks has done it the last 3 years. We'll see if he can keep it up. A guy who was surprisingly good in pressure situations was Gary Player. If that guy was in contention on Sunday, he just got more focused. One of the best closers in the history of golf.

I'm a fan of Brooks and think he's a great player. But I find that statement to be in poor taste. Doesn't matter how good you are...comments like this say more about the messenger than the recipient. Unless, of course, it's some sort of big-time-wrestling style ruse to gain attention. If so - good job Brooks! He's either being like Richard Sherman or Andy Kaufman.

If Brooks was chocolate he'd eat himself

Rory has the occasional motivational lapse. He's admitted it and you could see it with his body language for 2 years. When he's motivated he's the best player out their IMO. And he's definitely motivated. So I think he'll win a major this year. Actually he could win the Masters this year and complete the Grand Slam.

Also I think this is a generation of players who are really talented, but go on runs. I expect the same from Brooks. Think about it. Jason Day, Rory, Spieth, DJ, Justin Thomas etc. The media and fans have tried to replace Tiger with each of them and they always take a step back. And I expect Brooks to continue to have injuries if he doesn't consider changing his focus with regards to his fitness. He simply can't continue to do heavy weights like he does and not get injured. He seems really self obsessed with looking like an "athlete". I hope he's healthy of course. Same thing happened to Tiger. You just can't continue to do that in your 30s when you play golf. Darn near every injury you can get from lifting will put you on the sideline. As Lumpy said, 'you can't pull fat'. lol

So at the moment Brooks is the best player, but Rory has had the better career and I think Rory will rebound and I expect Brooks will slow down. But neither of them will ever be Tiger.

lol - the same idiot who said

The Open and US Open are not important to him - Then says winning 2019 Open at Northern Ireland will be the most important open he can ever win

The Olympics is a meaningless event he will never play in - then changes his tune for 2020

I could go on...but Rory is an idiot
