With all the buzz around Mevo+ I am rather disappointed at it's entry price.

There seems to be a big gap in price between entry and next level up (mevo to Mevo+ for example). I was hoping for something lower as I want to improve my game and currently only have a used ES14 i've just purchased.

So....are we seeing this gap because of the manufactures wanting to not reduce sale of the higher end products they sell here?

I work in IT/Software so i'm not naive to fully understand the costs to build/run/maintain a device and ecosystem like a Mevo+, however are we ever going to see something in the 1000>1500 price brack that makes this sort of thing more affordable?

Will we see challengers at the PGA show this week? It would be nice to know if anyone has seen them.

Im sitting on my hands awaiting the reviews of the Mevo+. I would of liked to seen it around $1500 or about the price I was going to spend on a Skytrak. If the Mevo+ delivers on what us Mevo users originally wished for then I can see it being a good price. With 5 builtin E6 courses and driving range and skills games it sounds like a winner to me. Im on my 2nd Mevo and paid $250 brand new on Amazon during that deal of the day right before Black Friday and couldn't pass on the price. Having a home practice center has always been a dream of mine but just never in the slush fund budget. Unfortunately being a home owner and two kids the $2k I would love to drop on the Mevo+ will get allocated to something else.

Actually, I think the $2000 price point for mevo+ is LOW because the amount of features packed into the mevo+ comes close to Flightscope's active "pro-line" Ix+ model. I know at least one Xi+owner on the various forums expressing displeasure, and have to believe there are or will be more.

If you're wondering why these aren't cheaper, cannibalization and honking off an existing customer base is one key reason. The other reason: The current price of the SkyTrak which is the establishyed "top dog" in the marketplace at this price point.

Which would you recommend if its the same price- skytrack or mevo plus?

 

the range is like $200 a month anyways and investing a quality matt might be a better move for my elbows.

If you have the room, the Mevo+ is in a class of it's own IMO.

@TIM929 Yeah, the range fees add up quick, right? @Krt22 alluded to space, which is primary concern. If you don't have at least 16' between the unit and your intended impact area (8' from unit to impact plus 8' from impact to net) SkyTrak would be the only choice.
The original mevo does a fine job with only eight feet of flight, but it's only capturing club speed, ball speed and total spin. mevo+ will also have to measure spin axis and lateral spin. I have to believe 10' to 12' of flight would significantly improve the experience, but FS claims they are good with 8'!

Thank you both for the feed back! Yes, range ball's get real expensive but a big part of my golf enjoyment. The access of the therapeutic focus of zoning into the swing grind at home would be nice.

 

16 total feet should be good for the back yard. Since my set up will be out doors, is a Ipad and the mevo+ be enough for the tech side?

 

trying for a clean wireless set up(not a big fan of cords).

There's still going to be some shortcomings when it comes to FS and anything else that's purely radar-based for indoor use, namely things like spin axis on off-center hits. I don't think they have found a way to measure spin axis directly, so it's most likely going to be derived the same way the other units do it, using launch direction vs club path. That still somewhat "levels" the playing field in my opinion to a certain extent when it comes to average use. For those that understand the limitations, it'll be fine, but I think you will see more than a few posts about "inaccuracies" here and there. Just not enough wide-spread knowledge about how the different monitors go about things to keep it from happening. To a certain extend, FS would do themselves a huge solid by putting out some videos or some other form of knowledge vault to help people understand what exactly is going on.

Does the mevo+ still require stickers on the ball? I returned the original Mevo because I never could get the thing to read spin correct even with stickers. Without them it was hopeless too.

Stickers are a non-starter at the range.
