Time for OEMs to start publishing MOI and CoG with driver releases

Why would we trust the information given to us from the manufacturers even if they "agreed" to give it to us. We would still depend on INDEPENDENT testing to confirm results. We need people like @Howard_Jones and @Stuart_G on this forum to give us educated opinions and facts. They help us get a better understanding without any bias towards a result. I want absolutely no information from manufacturers, they would find a way to manipulate it.

If independent sites kept producing independent reports and a certain OEM was always way off in comparison to other OEMs then buyers would backlash. The other site has set the stage for independent validation. OEMs now just need to step up...

It should be that way. Just like the Chevy commercials where they claim all of their awards, but if you read the fine print and do some research, the results aren't the way they explain them to be. Nor do they carry the grander they lead us to believe they do. It's up to the person buying anything to do the necessary research and testing, especially when it comes to golf clubs. Even if they gave you the information you wanted, you would still have to have a full understanding of what they were saying and how it affects you specifically as a golfer. It's not making things easier.

Thanks for your trust and credit, but i hope you are aware of that im only a club fitter and club maker myself, now retired, so i dont have access to more specs than you have for this specific area, and like my posts in this tread tell, im not able to run numbers for how 2 heads will deliver compared to each other based on VCOG and RCOG values, i can only explain the direction of change, but not how much return values would change. To do that we would need robot testing to make sure impact is the same to get a real apple to apple compare.

I have no issue going to custom club makers and paying a premium. I've done it many times and still do, the last time was 5 days ago. Manufactures will continue to add options as they catch up to the custom market.

I understand, but you still help us gather information and give us great views on things. My point is in the end, why would blindly trust manufacturers to give us correct and unbiased information, even if it deters people from buying their product? We need independent testers and views.

You wouldn't, but it would be nice if they tried. When I buy a car I don't rely solely on the manufacturer but I do use the info as a baseline. Then it's off to consumer reports, edmunds, etc.

That's my point, we aren't making things easier by asking manufacturers to give us information that may hurt their product when compared to another. Every company wants you to test their product.

Correction, every company would prefer if you buy their stock product blindly at full retail with minimal questions, be happy with it as is, and then repeat for each new product cycle ;)

That's actually not true. I've been a fitting only center (no stock or inventory) and I've had multiple conversations with manufacturers where they were excited to have me carry other companies. Three top manufacturers actually all said they would rather have the competition, so that when their product wins, it means more.

This anecdote only serves as evidence that no rep wants their company to look like the grumps that think monopolies are good for business.

My point through all of this is why would we trust any testing the manufacturer gives us? If I have my timeline correct, I believe we didn't see anything from Callaway about the Chrome Soft ball core issues until AFTER third party independent testing. So regardless of if a company says something or not, it's important to have those independent testers to give information that is valuable. That's my opinion.
