Myrtle in covid

Had my Scotland trip for next week cancelled. Now NJ, NY and PA courses are all closed. Thought about Ocean City Md but they’re closed. Looks to me like Myrtle Beach is mostly open. But I can’t really find updates from the past week or two, most of the news is from late March. Anyone down that that could chime in? @ArtMBgolf you seem to be in the area and might tell me just how dumb it would be to come down from NJ for a few days.

Not a good idea. Hotels closed, restaurants carry out only, stay at home order in place. Arrivals from NJ expected to quaratine. We like our visitors but now isn't the best time. Stay safe.

I am a MB visiter and had to cancel my MB trip. Golf is mostly open in MB, but it's not clear if they are checking IDs. Restaurants are take out.

You can't get a hotel room from out of town. Maybe if someone has their own place to stay, you could do it.

South Carolina is still open for golf, has never closed----- But there are a few catches---- In the Grand Strand area it is local residents only because all motels and resorts and rentals are shut down. I do know one golf group that owns and operates 20 courses has voluntarily shut down 8 of their courses because they are motel package geared. Now with that being said there are plenty of people from out of state that own condos and houses and I have not heard of any courses checking IDs. But then again at my home course I have not seen any out of state license plates in our parking lot in the last 3 weeks.

If you try another state with golf open, also check to see if the course is only open for locals. Golf is open in DE, but the city/county owned are resident only.

I don't know about other public courses.

That might vary between being a city/county course and a public course that is privately owned. You may also find walking only and pay online only.

Just coming to grips with the reality that there’s really no golf out there. Even places where golf is, lodging isn’t. And I’m certain no one wants a NJ guy showing up.

There is no golf some places but places there is golf there are no hotels or food. Also lots of places check ID's to make sure you are from that state.

Was there last week had a condo at Legends that I got on VRBO. Played Kings North for 45 Grande Dunes 52 TPC for 52 True Blue and Caledonia had a special buy a 100 gift card for 75 so played those two for 300 and they were charging 35 for a replay we played 36 there both days.

Grande Dunes asked for my ID told them I had been there over a month so no issue

So is Myrtle Beach golf courses still only for local residents? Would they let you play if you are down the road in Charleston, SC???

I was supposed to go to Myrtle in a few weeks but cancelled everything. Courses were open but nothing else which doesn't make it much fun. We are rebooking for next year which sucks.

It looks like short term rentals will be opening up on 5/1.

Was there week of Easter played Kings North, Grande Dunes, TPC, Caledonia, True Blue, and Heathland. Only time asked for ID was Grande Dunes told them I own home in area guy in shop nodded no problem that was because course is in MB others had no resident restrictions

So what’s the latest? We canceled in a March, rescheduled for 2nd week in April and canceled again. Place to stay isn’t an issue. Looking at May.

Myrtle Beach has lifted the ban on locals only golfing so you should be good to go. Thinking about coming up this weekend and letting the wife go to the beach while I go golf!

Yeah you can play golf and rent places for vacation. I changed to a house with private pool cause of the rules with public pool. This way my kids will have a pool to swim in all day. 56 days to go.

We are planning Mid-October. Hoping everything is close to being back to normal. Not just golf but restaurants and pubs are a big part of any trip.
