Indoor Golf Launch Monitors Side-by-Side Test - SkyTrak and TrackMan4

SkyTrak has been selling like crazy lately, and people pay around $3000 for a used one. Is SkyTrak accurate? The following is a comparison test between SkyTrak and TrackMan in tracking driver shots indoors. TrackMan has impact location turned on, with ample light, so it can be used as a benchmark. The format of the test is to set up both launch monitors to point to the same hitting spot, and take 10 driver shots in a row. It ended up that 11 shots were required, because SkyTrak missed one shot.

The following are side by side results of the 10 shots.

Quick takeaways from the test:

SkyTrak in general is accurate in capturing ball speed, club speed, launch angle, max height, and carry distance. It does an EXCELLENT job regardless of the price difference. SkyTrak seems to over-exaggerate the spin axis compared to TrackMan. The shots in general show more "curve" on SkyTrak.

Thanks for your test. I've also tested various launch monitors head to head (Trackman 4, GCQuad, GC2+HMT, X3, MLM, Uneekor, Golfzon and various other Korean launch monitors and soon Mevo+) but haven't had a chance to compare against Skytrak. This is valuable and I'm very happy to see the latest ball speed fix by Skytrak which seemed to show correct ball speed for over 150mph+.

The side spin issue with Skytrak has been well documented. Its not so much that it reads side spin wrong but it doesnt take into account spin decay. That is the spin decreases as the ball travels/slows down. Skytrak calculates the ball flight as if the side spin is the same from the time it leaves the clubface until it hits the ground, this is why it always shows more curve than what you would see in reality.

OP looking at your numbers, you are getting some freaky (in a good way) launch conditions. 18-21* launch with low 2000's spin! No wonder you are seeing that kind of distance from 155-165mph ballspeeds.
