greetings all.

 

my name is howard, i'm 56, and i live in scotland. to be a bit more exact, in glasgow about 30 mins. drive from royal troon, 45 mins. from gleneagles and about 2 hours from st.andrew's and kingsbarns.

 

started playing in my early 30's and been well hooked ever since. new to this forum and enjoying wandering around the pages.

Hi. I shall be 69 years old in the morning, live in the UK and work as a management consultant. Play to 18-19 and, like so many of you have spent far too much on golf equipment (all for research of course). Am now at last happy with all the contents of my bag and enjoy concentrating on the game rather than what is in everyone elses bag!

You Sir, have lifted my spirits! Wth the good Lord's blessings, perhaps I have many more years to play golf. May we ask for some tips or advice on how to reach 96 and still be able to play off 18-19? Good Luck this season and welcome to the Senior Forum. ;) ;)

Doesn't matter I will still be working (and working my way to the course!) sometimes it's better NOT to let the fingers do the walking (on the keyboard anyway) ;)

Hi guys! I'm Greg, I'll be 52 this year (don't feel a day over 30). Never been handicapped but can get to bogey golf once the winter rust comes off. I can credit my dad with starting me in this game when I was about 7 on a little sand green course in his hometown. The course is still there and still used. He taught me how to be a club ho and how to love the game. Was always giving me clubs, including the set of Titleist PT's he said he "couldn't hit worth a damn". Thanks Dad!! Now I'm passing the game on to my kids.

Hi All,

 

I am Andy and 58 this July. Been playing the game for umpteen years off an on and never got good! Recently started to play more since I semi-retired and started to live in Thailand (Bangkok).

 

I travel frequently so it sometimes gets in the way of regular golf. When back in Thailand, I play about twice a week and when I am "on the road", I am lucky to get one game in per trip of about a week. Most of my travels take me to China, Malaysia and Indonesia where there is also some great golfing to be had.

 

I am currently playing off 22 shooting scores from 84 to 105 and that is how inconsistent my game is. In recent months, it has dawned on me that I should spend time and focus deliberately on my game around the green and on the green where there are at least 10 strokes per round to be taken back (as we all know but .......).

 

Nice to know that age is no limitation to playing with a single handicap and that is now my goal over the next 6 months with this focus around the green and keeping my bad temper in check.

I'm Jake a Senior club pro in central fla. (54 last week) Have been playing this game for 45 years and will be at my club 30 yrs in Sept. My immediate goal is to retire with enough brain cells so that I can join you guys and actually PLAY some golf. All kidding aside senior golfers are the backbone of the sport and every good club pro should know that. Looking forward to the senior forum. Maybe I can help some of the guys with their game

I didn't play but a round or two of golf for the last 24 years but, while laying on the couch most of last summer recovering from quadruple bypass surgery and a week-long coma, I became obsessed witrh the notion of becoming a good golfer. So, I've had lessons, watched videos, studied the technology of the equipment, practice 3x a week and even got my two sons playing now. My wife says I'm obsessed but she admits its a good obsession. Glad to be alive--glad to be a golfer--and glad to be in this forum.
