PING 2020 Hoofer Vs Hoofer Lite

Does anyone know if the 2020 Hoofer has full length dividers?  I had the camo 2017 and very, very cool but also annoying as the clubs always got tangled.  Bought an H2NO from Sun Mountain and love it but miss my camo...

Same basic construction as the 2017, so same tangle. Set bag vertically when pulling clubs and it's not nearly as bad.

Don’t think you will find dividers attached to the sole of any bag that has a Hoofer/split type bottom that allows it to be flat with the stand out. Downside to the SM style foot mechanism is the lack of stability when standing and interference when mounting on some carts.

Got my HL out on Friday for it's first walk... I have to say, I am very happy with it and sort of glad I didn't go for the big brother Hoofer.  The HL is designed really well if you don't carry a million things.  Plenty of storage but not for useless or temporary items IMO.  Bag feels well balanced and light enough, straps could be a smidge more comfortable, but overall it is a really good bag and I am happy with the purchase.  There is less tangle than my previous '18 model which is nice, as well but the water bottle pocket is kind of lame.  I like to drink about 40oz while I am out there, this holds a 12oz bottle, more if you want to use the large garment pocket.   You can tell it quality all around though.

Coming from SM 3.5 14 way, my Hoofer 14- 2020 does seem to tangle a bit. I do have midsize grips but they kinda to rub together near the base. So that makes me believe the divider are not full length which is disappointing. Still enjoying the bag though...

I’m not a fan of many of the aesthetic choices for the Lite, but of the stock colorways, the green one is my favorite. I’ve mentioned this before in other bag reviews, but I hate how newer bags are overly “techie”. It doesn’t make sense considering that the most popular headcover styles are more classic and simple in nature, including those made by the very same companies that make the techie bags! Some companies, Jones for example, get it and some bigger companies are starting to get it. TaylorMade has an interesting lineup with their Flextech Lifestyle bags and Ping is showing promise with classic design choices for their new L8 and the Tropical Hoofer Lite.

Ping needs to come out with a Hoofer (and Lite) with all the features and advances of their current lineup, but with the classic Ping styling and color choices of yesteryear. I’m confident there’s a market for it. I ended up designing a custom Lite just to get the bag I wanted.

What was the process of designing your own bag?

you can call ping for more info but you basically can choose pocket color, bag color and piping color. Can also add logos in the standard locations. It’s a minimum order of 3, all the same and takes like 5 months.

the problems are the 3 minimum order, the long wait and you are limited on color choices. The custom ones I’ve seen are almost too simple looking, solid colors and basic logos.

like someone else mentioned, Ping needs to get back to the design and color ways of the old days. I have a pic from like 96 or 97 on Christmas when I got a ping hoofer, had the checkered blue pattern on the pockets and black body, classic ping logos and ping man. They need to get back to this styling on their hoofer line

Agree with all of this except for maybe the limited color choices. I can only speak to my custom experience but there were a ton of options to cover basically every color of the rainbow.  Multiple variations of reds, blues, etc. I guess Ping has to be to accommodate all the different schools and clubs that need custom bags.

At the time, I had access to the custom website and I was able to choose a color for every section of the bag.  Not only that, you can decide which Ping logo to use and where, as well as they type of application - either heat transfer or embroidery with embroidery being more expensive.

I mentioned this in another post, but if at all possible, if you choose a lighter color bag, request to have the bottom of the underside where the stand legs rest colored BLACK. My baby blue fabric looks pretty bad due to all the dirt from the bottom of the stand legs.

It looks amazing but that white would be the death of me.

I mean I'm not the biggest white/black fan on golf bags but that is their trademark color's and what the "tour" bags come in. I had a white bag back in 2010 for a few years and it never got really dirty although I'm kind of a clean person. Long term they will need to be cleaned though

Why is the top of the 14 way so weird? it's not like anyone has 12 irons in their bag... The 14 way top on Sun Mountains are more logical... Also, I've read that a lot of you are complaining that the clubs tangle when the bag is tilted/sitting on the ground, is this a problem when using a trolley?

Tangle is only an issue when the legs are extended, should be no issues on a trolley
