TM Spider X vs. Scotty Phantom X

Couldn’t find any discussion about these two together. I’m in the market for a very stable, forgiving putter.

Have had a demo Spider X this past weekend (Copper with the bent KBS shaft) and made a good amount of short putts, usually my weakness. Liked the roll, the stability and the reliable distance control. Didn’t like the sound and not to keen on the looks, but I’m not a TM fan to begin with. But the technical advantages were obvious.

Tested a few of the Scotty Phantom X‘s in the store and liked the firm feel. Can’t judge how how they’ll work on a real green.

Who likes which one better and is the Scotty 12.5 the most forgiving/stable model of the Phantom series, or how does that numbers system work?

Which Scotty is closest to the Spider X?

Started a similar thread last week. Exact putters; I went with the phantom x 7.5. I found the roll to be better on the greens and more consistent. This past weekend I putted better than I have in a long time. Now if I could only drive as well as I now putt!

I’m of no help, I like the forgiveness of the x12 head but wish it had the roll grove lines on the face....so go figure.

 

i think I’ve concluded though, if you putt really fast greens, the roll grove faces don’t seems to have as much of an effect. I think because you are not hitting short and mid putts as hard. But on medium or slow greens I do see a roll difference when the grooves are there, especially on an early morning when you can see the track in the dew.

I have both the Spider X double bend Copper and a Scotty Phantom X7. Both are excellent. I’ll give the slight edge to the X7 on distance control. I like the slightly firmer feel of the X7. Other than that your splitting hairs.
