Managing Attachments

The settings in your profile contains attachments where pictures are shared and can be managed.

 

1)  Each member in the the group “members” has 100 gigs of memory. 
2)  Join ClubWRX to get 5 times more storage space. 
3). Pictures are resized as they are uploaded but cannot exceed initial limitations of max 99MB per post.

Any insight on what may be causing downloadable attachments to fail?  I have received a few PMs about the reshafting tutorial I have in the club techs forum under the following thread.

 

 

It errors every time to try to download the PDF.  Tried to send the same thing directly through PM and get the same result.  Worked up until a week or two ago.  I uploaded a new version after the forum revert a month or two ago.

You said you updated again on Sept 15th but there's no attachment on that post.

It appears as though anything other than pictures cannot be uploaded, at least not right now.

 

Other boards with the same software CAN upload a PDF so I'm not sure why this one can't (yet ?).

I copied the link to the thread, not the post.  The post with the attachment is the first post in the thread.

 

 

Attachment is still there.  And when I uploaded it, it was tested, and worked fine at the time.  It broke after the fact.

Ahhh, I see where you're going with that.

 

It looks like the attachment is still there but apparently it's not.

 

Did the attachment work on Sept 15 when you linked to it ? I expect not. I believe ALL the attachments from the previous board(s) were lost in the Aug 17(?) cut over.

 

Anyway, until the issue is resolved I guess pictures are the only attachments,,,,,,,,

It is true that the old attachments were lost.  That was tested when it was reuploaded on the 15th...so at one time it was working.

So you're saying that on Sept 15th, in the post I linked to where you said you'd uploaded it again, it actually worked,,,,,,,, but today it's not there ?

No, I'm saying post #1 in that thread was updated on the 15th with the attachment and it worked at that time...and does not currently.

OK, I got ya now. I forget exactly when the board was cut over to V 4.5 but I think that may be the cause of some of these issues.

 

Perhaps @Gxgolfer will update us on the status of what's supposed to be allowed to attach and/or the status of what IS allowed to be attached.

I don't know if you believe this to be a global issue or just certain threads, but I will add that I had the same issue when trying to send the same file through PMs to other members that contacted me that way asking for it.  This was a while back, so not anything recently (within the last day).  Just figured I would add the additional info.

Okay, so I tried the post and it worked now. I also went back to one of the PMs I had save and was also able to see/download the attachment. Looks like all is well on both.

I posted some pics earlier today and they are oriented upside down. I tried several times, including changing the orientation in my photo album first, and they still attached upside down.

 

Is there a way to edit this?

Nope.

 

The picture on here will look exactly as it is on your device.

 

On your device, when you pull up the picture, your application should have something in its "tool bar" (or heading or somewhere) that will rotate the picture on your device.

 

It usually rotates 90* so, if you rotate it twice it'll then be rightside up.

 

You may or may not have to "save" it.

 

Once you do that, THEN you upload it to WRX and it'll look fine.

 

See below. This is my iMAC's Photos app. If you can see it, in the upper right hand corner, 3rd icon from the right. That's what the "rotate" button looks like on my machine.

Trying… I made a copy and edited it to turn upside down. Here it goes…. — No, it’s still upside down. I cancelled it out before posting. Bizarre. I’m using an iPad.

OK, so you made a copy (instead of altering the original) and now you have 2 pics, one upside down and the other rightside up, yes ?

 

Are you sure you posted the altered copy and not the original ?

 

If you open up photos do you see bother of them ? And if so, are they different ?

 

I'm on an iMAC so the "Photos" app should be roughly the same.

 

On MY machine all I had to do was turn the pic 180*. i.e. I did NOT have to re-save it, just close down the app and upload the pic.

 

When you re-open Photos and look again at the edited picture (after closing down "Photos"), is it the original way ? Or the edited way ?

 

If it's NOT the edited way there must be some "save" function that Photos needs on the iPAD.

In the photos app I have two pictures, the original and the edited, the edited picture is turned 180* (upside down). Both pics have been uploaded, and both uploaded upside down. 
 

I’ve read it has to do with the taking of the picture with the device orientation. 
 

Ghost in the machine problem. I’ll try to take a pic with my phone and change the orientation and see what happens.

OK then, I'm stumped. I can't see how WRX would reverse the pic but apparently it's happening.

 

That pic of the putter I posted earlier - that pic was originally "shaft up". I did the 180* in my PHOTOS app and then posted it and it was as it appears above, "shaft down".

 

Just for kicks, click on "Other media", the click on "Insert existing attachments". You last 2 pics should show. Are they both oriented the same way ? I expect they must be but,,,,,,,,,

So, I took a picture of my iPad screen with the same pic posted before. But this time I turned the phone around so the volume buttons were on the bottom instead of the top. This worked. Thanks for your help. When I use my phone to take pics I’ll have to make sure to hold it that way. Not sure why it does that.

That sounds really weird - WRX uploading re-orienting the pic.

Yes. Both pics upload upside down. I have no idea why but I think the reason may be something in the software of my photo app, not WRX’s. This has happened to me elsewhere, but not consistently.

Take a look at this thread. It may have something to do with how large the pics are and re-sizing them may fix the issue.
