Crystal Downs Connections??

Trying to find someone that has a connection or knows a member at Crystal Downs.  Would love to play a round at this track.   Thanks in advance!

Just some advice... posting something like this will get you 25 replies along the lines of "sure, when I'm back from ANGC, I'll see if I can fit you in."  If you weren't around in those days, look up T Boone Pickens and the gyu who wanted to ask him if he could get him on to ANGC.

 

Rather than posting a thread like this, put in some work and get to know some people.  Because assuming someone here could actually make it happen, why would they put themselves out for you over the likely 100s of other people here who would love to play it?

 

I see you have some posts.  Hopefully it's not mostly BST.  Develop relationships with people on here.  You never know who might be in a place where they could make something happen.  But the best way to make sure someone never puts themselves out for you is to ask like you have here.

 

There will be some "grumpy old man" replies, and "you are why the game won't grow" posts, but really, I am trying to help.

If you are a member at a private course, your pro can probably get you on in October for $500 accompanied guest rate next year (not allowed this year due to pandemic from what I have been told).

I know that CD wasn't allowing guest play this year due to covid. but i know you can write a letter up to the CD and try your luck with that, that's your best bet if you don't know someone.

You can also keep your eyes open for various charitable auctions, accompanied rounds at Crystal Downs pop up from time to time.  They aren't cheap, but if you're determined to get on that's an option.

I found John Sabino's "How to Play the World's Most Exclusive Golf Clubs" to be a very fun read. These days, the idea of globetrotting to check off the world's Top 100 golf clubs seems pure fantasy. Mr. Sabino outlines tips for gaining entree into many of these clubs. More so than anything I found his stories about playing in Japan, France, Scotland, and South Africa to be riveting. I don't recall "Posting on Golf WRX" as being a suggested strategy, but I guess stranger things have happened. Bluefan75 's advice is probably the most solid - form relationships (covered in the book). postfold offers another strategy outlined by Sabino. While not cheap, these charity auctions are a very popular way to get on an otherwise inaccessible round. I wasn't so much interested in the strategies as I was the experiences he encountered. It was one of my favorite golf reads this year, even though the book has been out since 2016. Good luck in your endeavor.
