Putter Question

I recently did a putter fitting and was told I need a putter that has a toe hang of 60 degrees, I have no idea what this means.  If im shopping online how do I find out what the toe hang is and could someone give me some examples of the putter im looking for.  It also says for the shaft it should be single shaft??

Toe hang has to do with how much the toe sits below the heel if you hold it naturally with the shaft horizontal. A face-balanced putter has no toe hang at all and the face would point at the sky. A putter that has the face at a 45* angle would have a 45* toe hang. If you need one with a 60* toe hang, that means it's nearer to face vertical than face horizontal. Because I have the link open, take a look at the different options for where the shaft meets the clubhead with this putter: https://www.pxg.com/en-us/clubs/putters/blackjack#configSection heel shafted is about 45*, plumber's neck is about 20-25* and double bend is face-balanced (i.e. 0* toe hang).

 

No idea what single shaft means - do you have context for it?

Most OEMs will show the toe hang on the putter specs. If you lay the shaft on the table, the head will naturally hang. The angle that it rests at is the toe hang and helps determine how the face closes. Your value is somewhat high. You probably have a decent amount of arc in your swing. A higher toe hang will help the face square up at impact.

So 60° is the amount of toe hang as stated above, these will generally be flow necks, slant necks, heel shafted putters.

 

The single shaft means the amount of offset, this is usually indicated in the amount of shaft that is in front of the putter face, this is usually full, 3/4, half or no offset.

 

This might be hard to find the exact setup in a putter but it's not impossible. You'll probably find a lot of putters with that toe hang but at 1/2 or 3/4 shaft offset. So a custom or semi custom may be needed to get the exact specs if you really want to, but I'm sure someone can help find an exact putter.

Did the fitter not have a specific putter for you to swing, one which matched your recommended specifications ?

Kinda surprised at the lack of context.

 

Not many players go for a putter fitting without stating (and understanding) where they're coming from (putter, offset, toe hang, length, weight, style, etc.) and then having the fitter pronounce the need X or Y amount of toe hang without context and explanation strikes me as amazing. Who did the fitting and what motivated you to have one?
