What a wonderful game huh?

You ever have one of those days? Horrible off the tee but saved several holes with the second shot. My playing actually felt terrible on the first 9 (executive 9 hole, play twice) but actually scored the best I have so far since I first started back. Then the second nine was just a disaster, several blow up holes and wanted to throw my clubs into the water hazard on the last hole and go get drunk.

But I get home to an email from Cobra telling me my custom Big Tour Fairway 3 wood is on the way and and I sit here daydreaming of my next round. I bore my wife to tears with detailed play by play descriptions (with pics of the ball sitting on the green) of my great shots that saved the hole and left me feeling like a pro, at least till the next tee box anyway.

Glad I didn't toss those clubs in the pond, what a wonderful game huh?

That's golf for you.  I feel your pain.  Countless rounds where I would kick a** on the front nine only to blow up on the back and vice versa.  Then I go home and talk mindlessly about how my round went with the wife fully aware of how much she hates golf, lol.  I finally got my set of New Level 623-M irons waiting for me after I got home from work.  Time to take these bad boys out on Saturday for a little range time and a round of golf.  So excited but I go through this every single time where it takes me a good bit to get used to new clubs and during that time I get frustrated and consider putting my bag in the closet and not touch them for a month or so.  I love the game so much that I can't stay away for long.  She's like that ex you know that's bad news(before married life) but you still go back because she's got that something going on, lol.

I will hit a shot that just feels right, looks great, falls right where you wanted and think maybe you got the hang of this. Then the very next shot you shank. At least that's me. Sometimes it's the same shot.

Hit one that looks great, but maybe a little left or right. I'll drop another to see if I can square it and shank it into the woods. 🤣

Talking to someone about your golf game who wasn't actually playing with you is like calling up a sports radio station and wanting to talk about your fantasy football teams performance the past weekend.

Its why the post-round lunch or 19th hole parking lot quorum is so highly valued - these people care! I almost enjoy this as much as the game. Almost.

That's why I walk almost exclusively.  No matter how my game goes, I feel like I at least benefitted from the workout.

Oh I mined some balls out of the low water hazards as well and there's usually 4-5 Titlests out of 10 so I've got that goin for me to.

Not sure what kind of golfer you are, but if you are a hacker like me and many who play, the expensive balls aren't really the best ones for us (not that all Titleists are expensive).  My one buddy was always buying PRO VIs until I suggested that he try a less expensive, softer ball, and once he did, he found it performed much better for him.  I personally prefer, soft, cheap, 2-piece balls.  Any time I use a premium ball, I basically just slice the hell out of it, and I notice zero difference in how they hold the green.  If I find a premium lost ball, I let it lie for the next guy.

Hmm, good point. I find a whole mix of them Wilson,  TaylorMade, Top Flite, Srixon, Slazenger, Nike, Callaway etc. I'll start researching which ones are soft and 2 piece cause yeah, I'm a hacker.

There is a huge variety out there for sure.  I think there are performance differences, and that using one or two that you typically hit well is better than using all the stuff you find.  For me, I found the Oncore Avant 55 works nicely, though you can't find them at retailers so have to buy from the Oncore website or elsewhere online.  I got some in a package my son sent me, having never heard of them, and found I hit them straighter than anything else I'd used.  Srixon Soft Feel also performs similarly.  Both are inexpensive, so losing them doesn't hurt much.  You'll find all kinds of recommendations though, so you just have to try a few and see what happens.  I really think most hackers underestimate the significance of the ball type.
