Dropping a weight class with the driver

Has anyone made the switch from a 7 to a 6 with the Ventus line? I've always played that ~75 gram weight for more control in the driver, but with the Ventus Black being so stable I'm considering dropping down the weight and getting a bit more speed out of it. I have pretty similar launch and spin numbers with the 6x and 7x but my speed jumps a few mph with the 6.

Changing weight class is soley dependant on strike location. At least that would be my primary factor. Picking up speed means nothing if smash drops.

Good luck 👍

I played 7 series in general with most drivers and have Ventus Red Velocore 7 series in 4wd.  I surprised myself and jumped to Ventus Velocore Red 5 series - 59g stiff.  Really glad I did, because I picked up yardage.  Between it and Titleist ProV1 and AVX.  I am hitting driver further than many 20-30yrs younger than me. The other day I smacked one 300+ yards, fairway helped but still, I am 70.

I can't say enough about Ventus shafts.  Outstanding!!!

I have generally never gotten along well with sub-70g shafts. I had been playing an AD-TP7 for a couple of seasons and quite liked it.

I took a leap on an Ventus Blue 6s (breaking my own no more sub-70g shafts rule) to see if the hype was real and lo and behold it was. Even though it was cool and soft at the end of the season I was in some spots that I had not reached with the TP7.

One thing to note is that I was playing the Ventus 1/2" longer to make up for the lighter weight.

These are the kind of things I was expecting to hear. I’ve typically played a 44 1/2” driver but have been playing my black at 45”. I think raw weight for the 7x is 78 grams with the 6x being 65 grams. I’ll probably start with the 6 a bit longer in length and go from there depending on the contact.
