SFO to OTH in August

Any experience with this flight? It’s my first time going to Bandon and will be in SFO on business and plan on just flying directly. I was told that the weight limit sometimes is an issue as people are bringing their clubs but I plan on shipping mine. Anything else I should be concerned with? Plan on getting a rental at the airport and heading to the resort.

You can probably skip tje rental and use a car service in and out of OTH. Don’t really need a vehicle if staying on the resort.

this 1000%. No need for a car. Even if you want to do the casino one night in coos bay they will pick you up and drop you off.

Get to SFO early and keep an eye on your departure time.  I have made the flight three separate times.  Every trip, the time changed, one time it changed three separate times.  I live fifteen minutes from SFO, so wasn't a big deal for me, but if you aren't local, you can save yourself the heart attack and just resign yourself to hanging out in the SFO terminal till boarding.

 

SFO is notorious for weather (wind and fog) delays.

Are you saying it can change forward? I plan on being here with plenty of time.

Check out Bandon page on “getting here”. They recommend a few car services I believe. Not sure about shuttles but I doubt it.

Saltydawg15- What happened to us was that our 11:10am flight to North Bend was pushed back to 1:10pm early in the morning. Everyone saw the change and relaxed a bit on getting to the airport. Well at 10:00am they moved it back to 11:10am and all our guys had to get to the airport and through security in under an hour.

Never taken the OTH flight but played with a few groups who did, some of which missed their first round because of flight delays.  It's definitely convenient but I would only consider it if I wasn't playing on the day of arrival.  I also think ship sticks is a necessity.  For what it's worth, I'm in the camp that EUG is the optimal airport...... reliable flights, easy rental cars and the bonus of a beautiful and fairly short drive down the coast.

Saltydawg,  there are two main shuttles operating out of OTH: Connoisseurs Limousine & Aviation Transportation. 

 

 I’ve used both & they are reliable. (The latter offers free drinks.)

I am flying from SFO because I will be there so no fear of missing my flight and I don’t have any golf planned for day of arrival as the rest of my party is flying into Portland and driving 5+ hours. We play early the next day.

You can organize a shuttle and it’s a piece of cake from airport to Bandon. Usually $80izh roundtrip per Guy. Even willing to have beer stocked.
