No, not you. 

 

Original U500 is shorter, more compact heel to toe, reason it's harder to hit.  The U510 is longer heel to toe, so may appear more closed, yet its more forgiving than U500.  I suspect that goes for the above new models too, except above models have wider soles. 

 

I still carry 718T-MB 17' which isn't closed at all and has a somewhat narrow sole, by comparison.

What's changed besides being a go between?

 

Can't say my u500 is in danger performance wise.  High 60/ low 70 ball speed and easily hit 5 degree stingers to 20 degree hot air balloons.  Love the club, but always willing to ho it up if there's something special.
