So I had the Bushnell for about 2 weeks now, and I must say that the unit w/ Gold has been a game changer for me.  I had been struggling with implementing a more consistent draw, along with struggling with tendency to have a closed face at impact, and the the club head path information helped tremendously to fix that situation.  Now I'm using the AoA to further improve hitting down on the ball.

 

HOWEVER, one very annoying thing is that the unit randomly doesn't recognize the ball.  It can happen at the beginning of the session after just handful of balls, or it can happen later (say around 20-30 minutes).  It seems to lock in on the ball again after a minute or two, but tends to do it again later.  I just experimented w/ powering it down and turning it back on last night, and I was able to practice for 45 minutes no problem (no it doesn't mean it'll be as effective next time I restart it).

 

What do you guys think?  Is this a hardware issue (therefore I should get it exchanged) or a software issue?  I'm on the latest firmware as the unit already did when I received it two weeks ago.  I'm also using the FSX Pro app on iPad only as I still need to get a compatible laptop.  But the issue above seems to happen regardless of whether I'm using the FSX Pro app or just using the unit alone.

 

Would appreciate any inputs based on your experience w/ the unit.  Thanks!

Mine will lock up and not look for a ball sometimes on the latest firmware.  Sometimes it happens in a few shots other times 60+ shots in.  It just cycles between the ball and club data screens and won’t say looking for a ball.  I shut it off and turn it back on and it’s usually good for the rest of the session.  For me it’s a latest firmware issue but the latest firmware works the best for me on FSX Play so I just deal with it and hopefully it’s patched soon.

I realize I’m being a little obtuse here, but how could the unit be picking up the ball most of the time, but experience ball lock issue once or twice during an hour session be from indoor setup (the condition of which is pretty constant)?  Just trying to understand.

yeah this is pretty much what I’m experiencing.  I guess my situation isn’t unique.  It’s annoying, but I do like it a lot overall.  Hopefully, it’s a matter of firmware fix in the near future.

I don't know enough about the unit to be definitive (since I don't own one), but other camera-based systems can be subject to factors like lighting/reflective issues or static buildup that you don't experience outdoors at the range.

 

Or, from a more generic troubleshooting point of view: if you remove it from the environment that it's performing poorly in and the problems vanish, the environment should be examined as a possible culprit.

It's not a radar and it's not sensitive like a skytrak to ambient light. Highly reflective shoes can cause issues, but that has nothing to do with indoor/outdoor and wouldn't really be an intermittent issue

I had the same issue outdoors as well.  Did not happen on previous firmwares.

My unit isn’t locking onto the ball and shows multiple balls. This only happens when I wear my new shoes.

It’s super annoying but this has been an issue since at least March. The official fix is to rollback the firmware from their website.

gotcha, I do recall seeing some posts about that.  Hopefully the next firmware fixes it.  Kinda unacceptable for electronics in general but I guess this can’t be helped considering this is relatively a niche product.

Well I ran into my first issue. The Bluetooth doesn’t seem to work. It connects to my computer fine but inside FSX it can’t seem to find it. I can use the cable but it’s kind of annoying

Has anyone seen the deal on Cabot Cliffs that they're offering right now? Free if you purchase another course as well. 

 

It says that the course is only compatible with GC2, GC3, GCQuad, or GCHawk launch monitors so I guess that means we're out of luck with the BLP?

Until the BLP has FSX Play compatibility.

Cabot is a FSX Play course not a FSX 2020 one.

Do you mean WiFi?

 

Turn on the launch monitor, then open FSX. Connection with in the program should be quick. If not hit the refresh button.

If you put it in the cart with another course it shows it’s free. I’m still not seeing it advertised on the site, but it looks to be true. 
 

Now to pick a second course. Royal Birkdale? Carnoustie? Coeur d’Alene?

Check to make sure the WiFi on the unit is connected to the same frequency as your computer.  Most folks have more success using the 2.4ghz channel rather than the 5ghz one.

You have to have another course in your cart first, then Cliffs will be automatically discounted.

 

Edit: never mind, I should have read a bit further since it looks like you got there yourself. I'd have gone with Carnoustie. 🙂
