Why don't club manufacturers make iron heads that allow shafts to be easily interchanged.

"fitting" irons generally feel REALLY awful compared to their fully functioning counterparts. there's literally no upside to making a complete set of them.

That's kind of why it was a question.  I imagine it would look more like the fittings heads they use at Club Champion rather than the design they use on the woods.  Even with how I'm picturing it tho I don't think it would be possible.

Not sure what you're referring to.  The "system" I'm explaining would not use any kind of "adapter" or "collar".  The shaft insertion depth would be identical to gluing the head and shaft as it is typically.  What I'm suggesting is to have a screw hole through the bottom of the hosel bore that goes completely through the head (out the bottom).  The screw would thread through the bottom of the head up into the hosel and then screwed into an "insert" that is glued into the shaft tip.  It's fairly simple and easily standardized.  Loft/Lie bends would not change one bit.

I get where you are going with this, but there will be a problem with bending.  You now will have an insert inside the shaft that is anchored by a screw or similar.  That screw and or insert will be stressed and bent when you adjust loft and lie.  Once it is bent, how are you going to extract that screw without it breaking?  Far too many little parts that may or may not be up to the task.  Not saying it can't be done, but there are pitfalls hiding around every corner.

Yep, I see the issue you're pointing out.  Needless to say, but I won't be holding my breath on getting any systems for irons/wedges that will become universally available and accepted as a better method than the current approach.
