Is it really worth it to purchase a GPS Range Finder or are the Phone Apps just as good?

A GPS device uses satellites just like your car's navigation system does. They are generally accurate to about 3-4 yards.

 

I believe, but am not sure, a golf phone app should work just as well as a golf specific GPS.

 

 

A rangefinder is different. It uses lasering from where you're standing to a spot your laser rangefinder can see. It is far more accurate. Most budget rangefinders are good to ~ 2 yards and the best are almost perfect - to less than a yard.

Don't know.

 

Just found and used the pic to differentiate between a GPS device and a rangefinder.

 

Personally I bought myself a top-of-the-line Niko Pro Stabilized unit for Christmas about 3 years ago. Works great.
