Mizuno Pro 225 vs PXG Gen 4 311P Irons

Has anyone had a chance to play both of these?    I had a short list of clubs (titleist 200 and TM P790) but the Mizuno Pro 225 absolutely destroyed both of them.   Problem is that I can’t test the PXG against the Mizuno at the same time.   The Mizuno was hit indoors in launch monitor and I will hit the PXG at a fitting this weekend outside.    I know both are very new, but hoping someone has some experience with these 2.    I am currently playing Apex 21.   I am an 8 handicap.    I know, pretty high for this board!

Like to know what you find out. Been loving the Gen3 P’s and the 225 have my attention. I know the Gen3 and Gen4 are so close in performance, so I would like to know how your comparison goes with the Gen4 P vs 225.

I've hit them both on a GCQuad - Gen3 0311P provided more spin for me vs. the 225. The sole of the 225's seemed a bit thinner but the top line seemed larger. Ballspeed was pretty much a toss up for me, perhaps slightly in favor of the 225. In regards to feel, I personally actually preferred the 0311P to the 225's. I realize this might be a controversial statement on here but thats how I felt.

Forgiveness was good in both, I will say that the 0311P outperformed the 225's on toe hits for me and retained more spin on shots that i hit a groove low.

Liked both irons but if I had to buy one, I'd go with the Gen3 PXGs.

Gen 3 irons feel awesome. I’m playing the XP and they feel like butter.

PXG P irons look noticeably larger to me.  I bought them, played one round with them and sold them. They were fine ans I thought they looked cool but they did not wow me.

The 225 did wow me. It has a more pleasing overall profile IMO and it delivered great numbers. PXG has a polymer filling and you can tell. They definitely feel different and I liked the feedback from the Mizuno more. The chromoly heads are explosive. I preferred the look from address with the 225. The squat shape works for me.

The big difference between these two will likely be spin.  The Mix 225 will spin less, even though their lofts are 2* weaker.   You will need to determine if these spin enough for you to get a 45-50* landing angle and hold greens.

Looks and feel will be similar.  The Miz 225 have a slightly slimmer profile.

I’ve tried both (albeit I prefer the 0311T for my own swing). The Mizuno are definitely lower spin as mentioned above which doesn’t work for me and look slightly more compact to my eye. Another difference is that the sole in the Mizuno isn’t as meaty. With that, I like the PXGs more. I think they’re more forgiving and feel softer/more consistent across the face. I actually like the 921s more than the 223 and 225.

In terms of Gen 3 vs. Gen 4, I hit both outdoors on trackman and no discernible difference except a few hundred RPMs more spin on the Gen 3 and a couple more yards out of the Gen 4. Dispersion was the same and I thought they felt identical.

Same lofts on both sets.
