Cobra Adapters...2 more questions...ugh

My kid snapped my Aldila Tour Green in my RadSpeed XB. I've been looking for a new shaft for it/ him. Most of the raw shafts I find are the same price with those that come with an adapter and grip on it BUT the adapters arent listed as RADSpeed, they are F8, F9, Speedzone, LTDX, etc.

While I have no problem doing the work, if I am going to pay the same price for a raw shaft as I would an assembled, why wouldnt I?

Can someone shed some light on this?

Thanks

This^^^^. The only difference is the labeling. Earlier models had the actual lofts and at some point they changed to +/- degrees.

  • buckrogers71 changed the title to Cobra Adapters...2 more questions...ugh

I got the busted part of the shaft out of the adapter and I found the following:

There was some black inside the adapter, I have heated, scraped, and acetoned it and whatever it is, wont come off/ out.

1. Could this be epoxy or just something in manufacturing?

2. In true wrx form, I had the XB in a 10.5 to start and bought another shaft and adapter (already installed) from flea bay, sold the 10.5, felt bad b/c I never gave it a chance and bought a 9*. When messing with the adapter, I noticed that there is no 9* on the adapter. Goes 8, 8.5, 9.5, 10, 10.5, 11.

I am SO confused on that one. Can anyone help me out with that?

Thanks in advance

The older adapters matched the head.  So, find the middle loft, look at the difference from the head's loft, and apply that to all the measurements.  For your 9* head, subtract .5 deg from what's marked on the adapter and you'll get your actual loft, assuming your shaft/adapter came from a 9.5* head

I have no way of knowing what head it came from. I guess I can just play with it and see what I like. Would you say just install the shaft at 9.5 (thats the middle # and it plays at 9, 10.5 would play at 10 and 11 would play 10.5?

Yes.  The middle/neutral setting will match the loft of the head it came from
