Looking for a 🦄 players Iron that will improve scores

i230 is my vote. Coming from miura and Mizuno blades for the past 10 seasons and into the i230, that’s exactly how I’d describe these irons. +2 cap, so I hit the middle most of the time and these feel as pure as anything on good contact. The spin is so consistent from strike to strike that I haven’t seen any flyers at all. They’re obviously a little bigger than blades, but look great from the top and the performance can’t be argued.

Srixon zx7 previous model or new. I have played two rounds with these. The first model. Could be the best set of irons ive ever owned next to my mizuno mp5. Ive had a round hitting center face alot.. the feeling is amazing. My second round i hit more all over the face. Toe and low mainly. The feel outside center changes to let you know you missed without hurting and still feels amazing and soft but informative. The results when middled perfect. The results when missed middle.. still making the green maybe no more then a few yards off target number. Amazing. So easy to hit for the size and shape.

No irons have hot spots anymore, so that is gone.

 

Fliers, well that occurs when you are playing a set of irons that are borderline too low spin for you.  So lets say for your SS, 6k spin is good for iron numbered X.  Many of the foam filled irons and others all lower spin, so it drops to 5500.  Then maybe you don't keep your grooves super clean or even if you do and there is dew on the ground or you are in the first cut and some grass gets in there, and that spin drops another 500 to 5k, then that iron is not going to have as much spin and will fly a bit too far and not hold the green.

 

So it is not hot spots or fliers that are the problem, but being properly fit.  I have a buddy that plays P790's, he doesn't get fliers because he is borderline too high of a spin player.  He plays foam filled and lower spin irons without a problem.  You need to go and test your current vs new ones and get something that works.

I didn’t pick up any distance, but my distance control has improved almost unbelievably. Seems regardless of the strike, my yardages are consistent. My blades didn’t always spin enough, so I got more flyers with them than I do with the i230’s. I can’t say enough good things about these irons.

Still looking for that unicorn 🦄 club. Haven’t found it. May never. But the hunt goes on. Looking at adding S55s, CB57s, i230s. In the meantime Blueprints will remain in the bag.

Based on what you're looking for along with the responses, you should title this "Looking for a Players Iron that is More Forgiving and Will Improve My Scores". Game improvement irons are an entirely different animal, imho.
