Getting used to hitting indoors

Recommended Posts

Got my Skytrak, screen, and projector all set up. It works awesome, was super easy to get all configured and working.

but now I’m the problem. I’ve discovered I have a completely different swing in my attic. All arms. Maxing out at 75% of real world distances. Turning my core after my arms. Its a mess.

Is this normal? How’d you break through and do your real swing indoors?

Yes

You literally have to not give a f$$k and let it go!

Realize that worst case scenario you will need to fix something.

Some of it may be your body reacting to the mat? I have an indoor setup and my daughter who is much better than I am does not like hitting on the mat. She hits way down through the ball on the course, takes huge divots and on the mat she backs way off.

I have watched her hit thousands of balls and I can see it clearly when I watch her.

Same here - i take short, deep divots and cannot hit off mats to save my life. I'm crap at golf in general but i can hit a ball well off grass but not at all off mats. I come away in pain, too.

maybe try a Holy Grail hitting strip or matt or something similar

I have a real fee mat. I could see it being a problem if I was the type to peel bacon strips, but I take almost no divot so it doesn’t bother me.

I’ve managed to work past the indoor swing syndrome. Took a bit of working through it to get there

I had to switch mats. I had a CCE and just couldn’t get myself to fully extended my arms because of the shock from the mat. It made me become a bit of a flipper where I wasn’t before.

It really bothered me on course, once I switched to a Fiberbuilt mat, I was able to rebuild my swing back to normal. It’s taken a couple of months though.

I have the opposite problem.  I learned golf initially at golftec, and have spent lots of time on simulator.  I play better indoors and have really had to work on my outdoor swing syncing to what I do in a controlled environment.  Also, learning on mats is overly forgiving on fat shots so my nasty outdoor miss is hitting it fat.
