I think it would be cool to see how many ohio wrx members we can get together for a golf outing for early summer, late spring.

We could play somewhere in central ohio so that it is a fair drive for all interested....

I live in sunny SoCal, but I'll be in Ohio for my birthday and my sister's wedding the end of July. I get a free round for my B-day at Thunder Hill in Madison, 46 on GD's hardest in America. My friend is an Asst. Pro there. So if anyone wants to join me, drop a PM. Looking to play it on July 30, 31, Aug. 1st. Has to be on a weekday, July 31, Aug. 1 is best.

Hey, guys, let's make this happen. I'll be more than happy to make all the arrangements, once we have a date. Out of those, I would say if we want difficult layouts, try Players Club, Longaberger or Tartan East. If we want something easier, try Cumberland or GC of Dublin. The others are somewhere in the middle, w/ Cooks Creek being the nicest layout (in my opinion).

 

Again, I will be more than happy to arrange it, w/ pairings, hc's, betting, games, whatever. Please call me on my cell at 614-565-1032, or PM to let me know what works best, or just post a preference here. How about:

For the guys that have not played avalon lakes it is a gem. IMHO better then Longenberger.

 

For Central Ohio I will give some of my thoughts.

 

Best Greens - Cumberland Trail, Golf Club of Dublin.

Best Layout - Tartan East, Longenberger

Best Test - The Players Club, and Longenberger

 

Cooks Creek is a fun course for all skill levels - I believe 6 sets of Tees and always in good shape.

OK, so here's my suggestion to everybody. Let's do either:

 

- The South Columbus outing - morning 18 at Cook's Creek and afternoon 18 at Player's Club

 

OR

 

- The East Columbus outing - morning 18 at Cumberland Trails and afternoon 18 at Longaberger

 

Post your preference, or PM me w/ email address, so we can come to a consensus. Let's try to keep this to 4 groups, so there's no more than an hour difference between first and last group, and then we can make the short drive to the next course.

 

Let's try for one of the last 2 weekend in July, or post a date preference (or bad dates, either way). Let's make it happen!

OK, kids. Here's the story:

 

Most respondents said they preferred Sunday, and most respondents said they preferred Cook's Creek / Player's Club (which also heps get Southern OH folks involved).

 

So, we've got (5) AM tee times at Cook's Creek, beginning at 7:42 and ending at 8:15. We'll have a few minutes for lunch, and then (5) PM tee times at Player's Club at Foxfire, beginning at 2:00 and ending at 2:40. We can tally up the results at the bar following round 2.

 

Please respond as soon as possible regarding your involvement, and feel free to forward this on to other interested parties. Also, please give some insight as to the preferred format. My initial thought is that, since this may be the first time playing these courses for many of us, some kind of team best ball format would be appropriate (as opposed to a scramble). If anybody feels strongly about wanting a scramble/alternate shot/non-play-your-own-ball format, please let me know.

 

In terms of prizes, we'll do some kind of team skins format (if you choose), as well as 1st and 2nd overall net. I can come up with a golf-related prize or two, but any other equipment/golf donation will be much appreciated. If anybody is a GolfWRX insider, please check into any prize support from the site. Thanks.

 

Look forward to seeing everybody in 4 weeks. We'll make this a great inaugural outing!

If you need more players you should promote this event using the myGolfBuddy local playing partner search engine. Just do a 50 mile search on the zip code that the course is in and blast email local MGB members alerting them to this event. You can tell them it is a joint wrx/mgb event.
