Wilson Staff Dynapwr and Dynapwr Carbon Drivers spotted on USGA Conforming List

Very nice. I should go read up on the variance in the characteristics of the available shafts. Curious now as to why some got along with my swing so differently than others.

On the propaganda front, finally saw a singular Dynapwr ad run during coverage this past weekend. Still less advertising time than Padraig's umbrella being on screen and open for a bit of Saturday's highlights, but it's something.

Added the Ventus Red TR Velocore 50g to my Carbon…has tightened up dispersion and given me a slightly flatter trajectory without losing any perceived carry. My Stealth 2 Plus and TSR3 will gather dust for a while…

After playing about five rounds with the Ventus TR Red Velocore 50g I went back to the 60g Hzrdus Smoke Red RDX, just a better fit for my swing.  I can feel the club head load/unload and I’m getting a better transfer of energy to the ball vs the Ventus Red TR…the torque is just a bit too low for me. I play both the Staff Model & Triad balls and they are both a great match with the Dynapower driver…getting some impressive distance gains. Wilson offers the 50/60g Hzrdus Smoke RDX Red  and 60/70 RDX black as stock shafts with no up charge. They also offer the Ventus Red/Blue/Black TR Velocore in multiple flexes as an exotic with an up charge fee…but I would try the 60/70 RDX before I did that. Might save some coin.

Will the heavier weight on the titanium model fit on the carbon model?

Yes it will, in fact that’s exactly what I did…swap the 12g for the 16g on my 10.5 carbon. There is a 20g weight available from Wilson as well. Another trick I learned from my Wilson rep is that the -0.5 setting will open the face angle without really effecting the loft/launch. I was initially pulling about half of my shots to the left and once I made that adjustment it was on point. The stock RDX red 50g and Ventus Blue 60g are both probably a little too whippy for someone with a more aggressive swing, probably fine for those with a moderate tempo. The RDX Red 60g has a torque of 4.4 in reg and 3.5 in stiff. I ordered a couple of 9* carbon heads with RDX black 70g for store stock for the next time I get a big hitter in the fitting bay. My coworker plays a cally paradym with Ventus black 70x velocore and he got almost identical numbers with the RDX black 70g stiff in the carbon 9*…food for thought, anyways. Possibly could save $100 on the driver and $350 on the shaft upgrade as the RDX black 60/70 is an alternate stock shaft on the Dynapower.

Good to know. I like my drivers shorter than 45 so this sounds like it could work.  Now, titanium or carbon is the decision.

The titanium has a bit of draw bias and a bit of the pregnant turtle look. The carbon has a very classic pear shape, a hair of fade bias, and has lower spin. Shaft availability is the same for both.

Went to a Wilson demo day Saturday. There weren't a lot of people in the store so I got to try the Dynapower Carbon and Ti for a good number of swings.

First up was the Carbon in 9° lofted up to 10 with the stock Ventus in stiff which I hadn't swung yet. I was stiff myself and though I had a couple good swings the inconsistency was noticeable. Feel and sound were excellent but I couldn't get dispersion down.

The rep said 'let's try the Ti and put the Ventus in it' and I swear it was like a switch clicked. RPMs were at most 100-200 over the Carbon and yardage on the monitor was 2-3 yards less shot for shot, but the ability to keep the ball more down the middle was pronounced. In the end I averaged longer with the Ti than the Carbon simply because the straighter shots went farther than the Carbon's bendy shots.

Best of all, it looks like right now on Wilson Custom it looks like you can order the Ti with the Ventus blue from the carbon for no upcharge.

Very tempting to pull the trigger!

So for the Dp Ti- would you consider the ventus blue R an all round better shaft than the Hazdous Rdx red?

That's really hard to say definitively for every swing out there, but I was definitely hitting the Ventus better on that day. On the other hand the Ventus might well just fit me better because it was performing decently in other heads as well.

At this point  Iv settled on one thing -  'A' Wilson staff Dynapower driver , done alot of research and reading and I always liked Wilson and have the irons and putter, and a DP hybrid too  so the driver Is the last to get,  yes I was between the carbon and Titanium, I know I could maybe try both but right now I'm more Interested in the TI  as a under 100 mph swing speed  it is more forgiving, and iv read the Carbon can be a bit punishing  so TI it will be then
