Playing from different tee boxes using the WHS

I run a league and we have been using a program to calculate a GHIN 9 hole handicap using the old USGA formula.  I am changing to the WHS formula for next season.  I have a few older golfers who are thinking of moving up to the golf tees for next season.  Their current handicap is calculated from the white tee box.  Is there an adjustment needed to be made to their handicap under the WHS if they move up to gold tees next season?

 

We already have several golfers playing from the gold tees and their handicap is based on that tee box.  I know that there is no adjustment needed under the WHS for playing different tee boxes unless the difference is par.  My question is for players who have an established handicap at one set a tee boxes deciding to play from the forward tees moving forward.  Is there an adjustment needed then?

I don't believe there's any such thing as a 9 hole handicap index. The index is the index.

 

9 hole games are combined into 18 hole "rounds" within/by GHIN for a single index.

 

No adjustment needed if you calculate the COURSE handicap correctly. That take into account the tees being played.

I think they're WHS handicap is what it is, but between the different tees on the same course there might be a difference in the daily handicap. IE 18.0 WHS handicap, blue tees are 19, yellow 18, red 17 on that one course.

You don’t really “establish a handicap from a tee box”. Your index is your index. It doesn’t matter what tees you play. Your index is figured from all tee boxes from all courses you post. 
 

The WHS figures everything out when playing different tee boxes in a competition. 
 

Generally speaking, for each index, the player will be getting less shots the farther he moves up and more shots the farther he moves back. 
 

It’s just a formula based on a players index, and the CR/PAR/and slope of the tees being played that day. 
 

The formula is (Index * slope/113) + (CR-par). That will give the player his course handicap (CH) for that set of tees. Then the players Playing Handicap (PH) will depend on what game/format is being played that day and is an adjustment to the CH. 

 

Example:

 

I’m an 8.1. From our blue tees (68.4/118/70) I am a 7 CH. 

 

From our combo tees (64.9/112/70) I am a 3. 
 

One 9 is tougher than the other. So from the blue, for 9 holes, I’m a 3 on the front and a 4 on the back if I only play 9 holes. But if I play 18, I get 4 on the front, and 3 on the back because the odd caps start on the front. 
 

This is all incredibly easily done in the GHIN app.
