Sun Mountain Mid-Stripe Bag

Stumbled upon a new Sun Mountain bag.  Looks very clean imo.  Vinyl material, double or single strap.  Pricey though at $370ish.  More colors available but here are my top 3...

Do you have a link to the product? I checked Sun Mountain site and nothing. Carls and Morton have them but not the colors you show above.

I have had great luck with Sun Mountain carry bags, the bottom does not collapse like many others which means less club tangle.

Local shop has one, was in a hurry when I saw it, but will check it out next time I’m in.  Think it is the white with grey accents.  Curious.

Agree, just not sure exactly what is differentiating high end bags from a good quality bag anymore with all of the smaller bag companies coming and OEM's making high end bags in their carry lines.  IMO, to put out the $$$ I would want full dividers, magnet closures on as many pockets as possible, non shaft scratching materials at top, pockets or mesh dividers / compartments within all of the larger pockets, good straps, and a material that holds up to the elements well and lasts a long period of time.

These are in stock at my local PGA SS. Solid product, no doubt about it. Material is night and day compared to the standard Sun Mountain bags. Definitely now something like a Stitch, Vessel, etc. Pocket layouts are solid and the zippers seem sturdy. I think this new strap is awful. I could barely get my left arm into the left strap.  But the straps themselves were super comfortable and sturdy. It definitely looks like they put some extra attention into them which is real nice to see. 
 

I use a Hoofer Lite and it potentially has ruined me because they are hands down the best straps in the business. Great for carrying but also works exceptionally well for caddies as a single. Need that feature at my club since we are a caddy club. 

 

Overall, it is definitely a winner. Bag is very well done, but that strap system is just a killer for me.

100% agree on the straps.  I'd like to see the single strap option on the Mid-Stripe bag.

Called Sun Mountain and they said they will not offer online, only available with certain retail partners or special order via your club professional.

I for one am still looking for something similar that has a putter well.

Anyone ever try the TOMO Bag? Or the shoes for that matter?

Hi all looking for feedback on this bag, did anyone get one and how do you like it? Gone through my third Titleist stand bag in 7 years so I'm done with them. Looking for something more durable and just generally a good stylish bag!

Just looked at 1 carefully in the shop. Very nice but probably not worth the $$$. If you're looking at this price range you should also consider Vessel Player III. Better bag IMO and on sale now

Unfortunately here in the UK the Vessel Player 3 is £399 whereas this is £289.

Hard to find these bags to see in person over here which makes it a bit more difficult to choose one! 

This would be the most I'd be willing to pay for a bag tbh.

With your budget, I'd probably take Jones over a SM. Better made and more thought out.

Agree that's a ridiculous price for a bag. FWIW the Vessel Piii is $345 online but only available now in 1 colorway and I don't know if they ship to the UK

Have to say aesthetic wise I much prefer the Sun Mountain to the Jones bag. Will have to see if I can find one to take a look.

After looking at the Sun Mountain bag and the Vessel Player 4, I got the Vessel as it had a putter well in the 14 way. I like the bag, but honestly do not love it.

Actually after taking a look I do really like the look of the Trouper R but I see a lot of complaints about the strap system and club tangle. 

 

I exclusively carry, would this be a bad bag for that?

They're more about style than function.  The straps, as you mentioned above, are maybe the worst design I've seen in all of golf equipment.  Many of the pockets make little sense as well.  Sun Mountain bags have a lot of thought put into them especially from my experience as a walker.  They may not all look the best, but function wise they're light years ahead of Jones.  I have direct experience with the 2.5+, 3.5LS, 4.5LS, and Mid Stripe vs. the Trouper.  I do like the Jones Original bag for what it is, but again it's also far from functional.

Somehow I missed that the Mid Stripe now comes in a 14 way, which is a game changer for me! Has anyone tried it? Are the 14 slot dividers full length?

If anyone cares, I did end up calling customer service and they confirmed that all 14 dividers are fully and individually lined.

I actually purchased the Vessel Player 4 because it had the 14 way. It's ok..... may dump it for the Sun Mountain now that they offer the 14 way model.
