He mentioned editing a video with Mike and Ian from when they were working with Martin Chuck

So glad Matty is back, just love the attitude he brings to the channel and really appreciate his openness.

 

Somewhat related (?) but anyone know what happened to Larry? He was doing his own channel, built a huge new studio and then POOF - disappeared. Enjoyed most of his stuff.

I didn't really follow his channel, but he popped up on TXG as soon as Matty was back and they're rebuilding Mats swing.

I wonder sometimes if the goal of starting a channel is to build a base of online students, i.e. the channel is a means to that end. Maybe Larry has full days of online lessons and no time to make content? I dunno. 

 

Maintaining an active channel is anything but easy. From coming up with (or lifting) an idea to setting up and filming to editing your content to posting and promoting it effectively...it's definitely a full-time job. My guess is that a *good* 10-minute video probably represents 8-9 hours of work by the time you see it on your YouTube feed. 

 

I heard an interview with Conan O'Brien yesterday where he said that musicians and movie stars would come to do his TV show and make comments like "you have a great gig here, I can imagine myself doing something like this when I'm ready to slow down." Meanwhile he's putting in 14-hour days to create a 60-minute show day after day after day. 

 

Running a channel like TXG, Chris Ryan Golf, etc. must be similar.
