NPS: Katie, don't hit golf balls into the Grand Canyon

In golf, the term "in jail" means a player finds his ball in a lie he can't get out of.  Probably chip the ball backwards, or take an unplayable lie penalty.

 

 TikTok  influencer Katie Sigmond has expanded potential meaning to literally landing in jail. Video clips show her hitting a golf ball into the Grand Canyon, and then throwing the club in afterward. The National Park Service reports she can be charged both with littering and instigating a dangerous situation.

 

Problem: Just like knuckleheads that shoot guns off on New Year's Eve, no one can guarantee where the bullet, or golf ball, will land. Given the speed of a golf ball, much less golf club, at the end of a 4,000 foot drop, someone could get hurt or killed.

 

Note: Katie's earlier sports activities were limited to bowling with pumpkins.

 

If Katie gets jail for golf, there's no indication if her 6.9 million followers will be able to view her in her cell.

 

But, look at the bright side! An orange jump suit will pick up her hair color nicely.

... It is mind boggling how selfish and stupid people can be. We all heard this when we were kids "If everyone did it, what would that be like?" Saguaro Cactus have a hard enough time existing in a desert with summer temps getting above 115* and little water but idiots actually launching a golf ball into their protective skin should speed some time doing community service.
