Ball characteristics effecting dispersion

I was watching this video and it made me wonder if I’ve neglected a huge part of ball selection or if this information is inaccurate.  Some of the information is oversimplified in a way that makes me skeptical, but I was curious what others have found.
when choosing a golf ball I have largely ignored dispersion.  I have looked at spin, ball speed, feel and distance.  I tend to spin the ball a little too much so something that doesn’t spin very much is a good thing.  I don’t like the feel of a softer ball as much and like the ball speed of harder balls so something like the Snell MTBx or max fli tour x seems to be good fits for my budget and game (3 handicap that is on the shorter side).

Anyways,, in this video the guy talks about how softer balls will stay on the face longer and that will help balls slice less.  He also states that those that hook the ball will be worse with a softer ball as it will make the hook worse.
Have you guys found any truth to that?  As someone who’s miss is a an overfade (sounds better that a slice) should I be experimenting with a few softer balls?  Did I misunderstand this video completely and am I just going down a rabbit hole that needs not be explored?

I don't know what video you are talking about, but as soon as I saw this (bold print), I knew it was complete BS.  It will either make both better or both worse.  It cannot produce different results.

I had the same thought and didn’t understand how that could be or if I misunderstood.

Has anyone noticed much left to right dispersion difference between different balls?

Very minimal.  What I notice more is stopping power on greens between the softer vs. firmer ball.

I’ve always paid a lot of attention to height, trajectory, stopping power and of course distance.  Never really thought about left to right dispersion or how slice/hook spin would be effected.  Seems like others don’t pay a ton of attention to that either as the effect is minimal.

I always need to keep an open mind to the possibility I’m being dumb and missing something obvious…

How much spin affects driver dispersion came up in another thread a while back... I used the flightscope trajectory optimizer to see how much of a difference different spin rates would make on slices or hooks.  You can read my whole post below, but the short version is that the change in spin from a low spin to a high spin ball only makes about a yard and a half difference on how much a drive curves, unless you're talking about snap hooks and banana slices, in which case the difference is more like 5 yards.
