Kearney Hill vs Cherry Blossom

Maybe playing in that area later this summer as part of a bigger trip. If I can only play one of them, which would it be? Walking allowed would be a big plus in my view.

I've walked both. It's been a while since I've played Kearney but I remember it being a very enjoyable round. Believe it's our only Pete Dye course in the state. Cherry Hills was a brutal walk, played in the Mid-Am qualify 2 years ago and I believe 4-5 WD'd during the round. It was maybe the hardest walk in the most intense heat I can recall. Not a bad course just a little further away from Lexington.

Was it brutal because of elevation change or just a lot of distance between greens and tees? I forgot about the hosing development angle as well. Never an easy walk through those it seems.

there was a stretch on the back nine that had quite a bit of elevation change. Really don't recall seeing many houses though

Having never played Cherry...but played Kearney several times...Kearney is a very nice public course with a great layout. Walking would be fairly easy there as not a ton of elevation change. A true link style course and you can see alot of the course from several areas on the course. Highly recommend it.

Definitely play Kearney. Cherry is nothing special.

Kearney. All day, every day. Played both a lot when I lived there. Its not flat but is a very walkable ( used to walk it regularly) course. Cherry Blossom is a good track but Kearney is a great layout. If you want to do 36, Griffin Gate is about 7 mins away and is a fun track and always in great shape (it’s at the Marriott). Both of those courses used to host a Senior Tour event in the 90’s.

Sorry to bring up an older post, but Peninsula Golf Resort in Northern Garrard Co is a Pete Dye course also in state. It's a great course too, I wouldn't want to walk it though.
