Carry Bag options (Shapland/Camino/Mackenzie)

I’m curious to know if anyone has any opinions on the best carry bags, or if you know any good brands that you enjoy using. I’m on the market for a 2-way divider bag that holds 14 clubs. I own a titleist links legend carry, but I’m open to other options.  Also I’d like to know if anyone has used shapland or Camino bags, or if you have a quality brand that I probably haven’t heard of.

Just as the guitar work of Tom Morello or Buckethead is not universally accepted or loved by all, I believe the same rings true with the selection of a golf bag.  It's your game, your money - go with what you like.

Carry bag or stand bag? With any true carry bag you're going to be pushing it with 14 clubs although you can cram them all in there. 

 

Also, like Ferg said there are pros and cons to all of them, and each person will have a different opinion on what is the best.

14 clubs in a 2-way divider?  I would be exhausted trying to pull my mid-size cord grips out.  That must be a tangled mess at the bottom!

 

Are you looking for a "Sunday" bag?  I dont have any experience with those.  

 

I have a 6-way Vessel Stand 3.0.  Certainly not the lightest bag on the market, and legit has the dumbest water bottle pocket in the world, but I absolutely love the strap system.  I have had Titleist and Ping bags and never had luck with the straps.  Tangled and get all crappy after a year.

 

I carry about 50% of my rounds and the left shoulder strap finds its way to my shoulder every time.  Very comfy to carry.

If you play a lot of morning rounds I'd think carefully before getting a true carry bag. Consistently setting it down on wet, dewy grass will not only be uncomfortable but also will make it age quicker. Same goes for putting 14 clubs in one. Carry bags aren't really meant to tote around a full load. 

 

All that being said... Looks is going to be 100% personal preference. Never heard of Camino, and I've only seen Shapland stand bags never a carry bag. To me they look quite similar to the canvas linksmaster bags.

 

I know a few guys at my club that have Mackenzie bags. They like them a lot, but they don't put 14 clubs in them. They are definitely built to last as long as you care for it which makes sense considering you're looking at close to $1k after taxes for one.

I recently got the Camino Sunday bag and love it! I’ve carried it for a couple rounds now and it’s great. Very impressed with the materials. I walk a lot of mornings and really not too worried about it. If it gets muddy, should be able to wipe it down pretty easy (tools not jewels). I typically carry 8-11 clubs and it works well. Can’t comment on 14, but think it might start getting a little tight.

Nothing fancy, but I use a Ping Moonlite carry bag for all 14 of my clubs. I play with midsize grips and it's been just fine for me. Best of all it's got a double strap system so it's pretty comfortable. One of my buddies has the Titleist pencil/carry that he also has all 14 clubs and it's got a double strap. It's got small legs/pegs that keep the opening off the grass if it's wet.

I carry 14 in an 8 inch Mackenzie with a minimal amount of club tangle. Quality is unmatched IMO

Agree. I carry 14 in a 8 inch Nylon Mackenzie with limited club tangle. Light and works real well.

Moonlite bag for me, when I go to the indoor range and Sims in the winter.  Can no longer carry a bag on the course.  But if I could, that would be the one.

I have a Shapland carry that I love.  The double straps make it really easy to carry, balance is great.  Well built, classy, simple.  However, it has a 4-way divider, and I rarely every walk with 14 clubs.

I bought a Shapland stand bag 2.3 and like it a lot. Wanted a stand so I opted to go with a Shapland. It’s well balanced and the straps are very nice. I love the minimal branding, very simple. 

 

I have a Seamus fescue bag that I’ll use for short set rounds. It’s nice, but the strap leaves something to be desired.
 

My next bag will definitely be a 8” Mac. I have been eyeing those for a while now.

Just get the large MacKenzie. They are incredibly well built and so long as you don’t put your initials on it, I bet you would get 75%+ back on resale if you decide you don’t like it. 
 

FWIW I just took delivery of a delivery of a new Shapland stand bag and I absolutely love it. Truly fantastic quality if you like their design.

Mainly wanted to see if there are other options out there that I hadn’t heard of. For the price I paid for the linkslegend I could’ve opted to sell it on eBay to put the profit towards a more quality carry. I haven’t heard of Elliot I will check those out thanks.

I play a lot in muddy conditions and have ended up continuing to use my 4 way stand for most of the winter rounds. Especially since I can fit outerwear in the carry if I decide to shed a layer. It’s definitely easier to walk with the carry bag over my 4-way but the stand is really useful especially this time of the year. 
I will break in the carry more this summer for sure when I don’t need to wear as many layers. Mackenzie’s are class and the quality definitely seems to be unmatched.
