Drop from cart path

So Gareth Bale receives relief from the cart path to make an excellent recovery and save par at the Pebble Beach Pro Am.  But he didn't take complete relief?  He was still standing on the cart path after the drop.  Should this have been an illegal drop?

I didn't see it, but is it possible he was taking relief from something else?  As an example, he could take complete relief from Temporary Water and still have his feet on the path.  The same would apply to a sprinkler head, or GUR, or even a Temporary Immoveable Obstruction.

It's possible... I did not see it live.  Every article and clip I've watched has said he took a drop from the cart path to save par.

Clearly he is still standing on the cart path.  I also understand the rules for famous people don't always apply to the rest of us. 🤣

The title of the video says he takes his shot from the cart path but the commentator says he took a drop. Confusing.

 

But having seen the place I cannot think why he would have taken the drop as he would have had to drop behind the path and that terrain looks pretty troublesome to play from. Thus I believe he did not take any drop but decided to make a stroke from the path.

The video shows his ball on what looks like crushed gravel that connects to concrete. Are those considered the same cart path when they connect? Was he allowed to take relief from concrete onto crushed gravel? Even if so, he shouldn’t have his left foot on the concrete.

Lots of reporting available on this on the web and doesnt appear there was a drop involved.
