Golf in Korea

I might be going to Korea next month.  What are some must play courses in Seoul and what can I expect?   Never played golf in Asia before.

Never managed to play in Korea - despite living in Asia for 30 years - have been to Korea a couple of times but just work visits. From what I understand it is similar to Japan golf but even more expensive- they have lots of indoor golf ranges and range golf - it is very popular- but actual golf course golf is expensive. There are loads of Koreans in Philippines and Thailand cos the golf is less pricey. You might check Kimigolf.com for course recommendations. Hope you have a great trip. Also beef noodles!!! To die for like the Korean BBQ. Enjoy

Thank you.  My son is part of a club but no reciprocal.  I was looking into the Jack Nicklaus course, but understand it is private.  I need to start getting some tee times set asap.

I looked on Kimigolf.com there are reviews for quite a few courses but all the ones in Seoul area need member’s introduction or play with a member. Suggest you check “public golf courses in Seoul” online there are some public courses -or check with Korean colleagues to see if they can accommodate you at private clubs. All the best for your trip

Setting up golf from outside Korea is difficult, unless you are fluent. And Seoul is particularly hard. Jeju down south is more receptive as it’s a golf Mecca and home to some of the nicest courses I have ever played, and I’ve played a lot of top 100 stateside.
 

Are you playing solo or with others as foreigners will have a difficult time getting a tee time. The Nicklaus course in songdo (site of prez cup) wouldn’t reciprocate with my buddy who belongs to a top 3 private club in Hawaii. There’s another Nicklaus course by ICN airport, public, called sky72, lpga had event there. 3 courses and night time tee times too. I’ve had luck getting tee times here but I think they’ve stopped booking foreigners since covid. Best bet is to stay at a golf resort outside seoul. Golfpass actually is a good resource

Thank you. I hear Jeju has tons of courses and a lot of them are public.  I hope we can visit Jeju so which courses would you recommend there?  I can probably just play once while there.  I'll be playing golf with my son.  thank you.

Certainly pinx would be up there. Pretty decent onsite accommodations really good food and the course rates up there. And it’s next to nine bridges and while you may not be able to play, you can browse the pro shop and clubhouse (as of my last visit 2020)

Have any of you heard of ansuch Benest Golf Club.  My wife's cousin pulled some strings and got me a tee time there.

The answer is yes but looks like minimum 3 people for a slot. I could go off as a single but would have to pay for 3. Anyone want to join by chance?
