Chrome Soft Green-side Spin

Hi - online search and internal search doesn’t really answer the question. Everything is either partial wedge ~ 50 yards or full wedge shots. I’m looking for the little up and down shots around the greens. 
 

can someone expound on how the standard CS plays around the green. Best comparison would be to the Pro V1X.

Can’t compare to the prov1x, but I can to the regular Prov1.

 

the CS feels like it comes off all clubs in almost a springy fashion. It seems most pronounced to me on shorter shots. I see a much bigger first hop when it lands and then more run out. For me it’s a pretty significant difference and assume it would be even more with the x. 

 

I like to play the CS during the colder wet months. I’m not sure I could play it once the greens firm up in the summer.

Smokey - thanks for that. I do recall now that that happens. Pitching in my basement it feels soft and I like it off the putter. After 3 months of winter I am dying to test some new balls. Thought it might work. Probably not.

From my experience, the Chrome Soft X spins similar to the Pro V1, a touch less than the Pro V1x.  I have been using it for a year and like the spin around the greens fine.

I did a full ball test beginning of last season starting with the putter and working my way back. At the time the CS made it into my final 3 and ended up using it at the end of the season and beginning of this season exclusively unless it's really windy (I live in Reno) then I'll switch to the X LS. 

Around the greens it spun less than the Bridgestone BXS and Srixon Z star. It was either on par or better than everything else. Amazing off the putter.

I was using one this afternoon, alongside a Tour Response. The higher flight was great and it spun more around the greens. The softer feel meant I could be more aggressive as the ball didn't jump off the face. A smidgen too soft off the putter but otherwise a great ball for precision shots.

I got a dozen free about a month ago, never cared for them in the past, felt they were too soft.  Anyway, I've played in some cool weather recently and gave them a try, and  I was pleasantly surprised.  Plenty long off the tee, good feel with the irons and putter, but would agree they have a bit less spin around the green than a ProV1x or my regular Z star XV.  I think I had not played the newer version, I think it is a real improvement over the previous one.

I play it almost exclusively. For my 102-103 driver swing, it spins a bit more than TP5 and pro v. I notice this by higher ball flight, less rollout and CS will stop at or behind pitch marks vs ProV and TP5 will end up forward of pitch marks (2-3 yds) all else being equal. We have very small greens with gnarly rough all around them so GIR for me is low. I wanted something I could be aggressive with out of those lies and have some stopping power. I believe CS does that better than TP5 or ProV. When I play at courses that have smooth runoff areas and can play more bump/run shots I’ll switch to a lower spin ball. My 2c. Ymmv.

I have to agree.  I played the CS all of last year after comparing a number of different golf balls.  

 

The feel off the putter is second to none.  Just very responsive.  I'm sure it saved me a ton of strokes on the green.

 

The spin to me is on par with any non-x tour ball including the ProV1.  

 

What really convinced me to play it was that the distance was excellent even though the compression was 75.  Ball flight for me was medium height, which I liked.

EdY, that pretty much describes my game and my course. 
 

I played the Pro V1 almost all of last year after I was getting too much spin off the driver with the Pro V1X. I was set to order the Pro V1 for 2023. The lower flight was nice, liked the feel, but was lacking around the green and felt meh off the putter. 
 

in Florida the ball did not do much for me. 
 

The way the CS feels chipping and putting in my basement (still too cold here) is nice. 
 

I ordered the 4/3 deal. Let’s hope. 🤞
