Kingsley Club or Arcadia Bluffs

ignoring cost, which course woud you play if you had to pick one of the two?

 

Ill be heading up to Northern Michigan for a golf trip that starts with Forest Dunes and makes its way over to finish at Arcadia, but one of the buddies got us on Kingsley as an unaccompanied guest. The only problem is that the only tee time available to us is the at the same time we're scheduled to play Arcadia Bluffs (Bluffs Course), and there wont be enough time to be able to play both. What are your thoughts? None of us have played either course, so trying to get some local knowledge.

Both are awesome, but it depends on if you will be able to get back up there. Kingsley has been getting harder to get on the last couple of years, so I would probably take advantage of it, I had heard they stopped unaccompanied play. Both are great courses, the views at Arcadia are incredible but the golf at Kingsley is as fun as it gets. You can't go wrong either way, but Arcadia is public so you could play anytime if travel isn't a big issue.

Thanks for the feedback, it definitely helps confirm my gut feeling. 

 

We do have one other morning of the trip open that we are looking to fill with 18 holes. How would you rank these three if you could only play one...

 

Champions Hills

Pinecroft

Chestnut Hill

Haven't played Chestnut, but Champion Hill is a blast.  Pinecroft has some nice charm, but it's not close between those 2.

Got a couple tee times at Champion Hill lined up and looking forward to it. What are your thoughts on the Crystal Mountain courses? Better/more fun than Champion Hill? Still trying to fill our last empty morning with another 18.

Champion Hill is an easy course, both of the courses at Crystal Mountain are much more challenging. Chestnut Hills is a big step down in quality. Just played Pinecroft yesterday for the first time in a few years. My one complaint about both Champion Hill and Pinecroft is they grow the grass in the fairways a little long. It's not unusual to have the grass halfway up the ball.

Obviously go to Kingsley.

 

Call Arcadia every day between now and your open day.  I bet you can find a cancellation.  If you can't, maybe swing by there for dinner on night just to see the place.  That will ensure that you come back to play it.
