A couple of videos for your review.

I have always struggled with setting the club, and seem to do so very late. Almost a float load. It looks like im lifting the club a lot.

Also, to me, the club face looks rather closed at the top. I do think i may have become a little lazy with the grip and it has become too strong. It may be one of the reasons the handle is high at impact.

And then there is the early extension!!!

Any help appreciated.

Looks like you probably struggle with blocks and hooks?

Without a face-on view it's hard to tell but it looks like you have a big pressure shift/slide into your trail side on the backswing without ever recentering. More of a centered pivot could help. This could also fix the arm lift and EE.

First 15 seconds of this video gives a good understanding on pivoting properly in the backswing.

I think your life would get easier if you could set your wrists earlier while stopping your arms somewhere around here…

Yup, to build on that:

@gaffs This largely involves the correct setting/hinging of the wrists, specifically the right one:

GafVScott.gif.0a627795a51dd6d7cf6effa86f9182fc.gif

There are several interconnected bits to note here.

- First note your right arm and how it folds very quickly vs. how Adam's stays straighter for longer.
- Second note the right wrist and how Adam hinges up (radial deviation). More on there here.
- Third, note your shoulders vs. Adam's. His shoulders/arms/hands are moving more as a single unit whereas yours are moving/rotating more slowly and separate from your arms. Adam has achieved a similar amount of shoulder rotation in the the initial takeaway that you have by the end.

These three elements together basically mean this; you'll want to work on feeling wider, more "one piece" with your upper body, and that your right hand/wrist pitches the club up more in front of you (per the AMG video). From there I agree with Sean in that your backswing length should shorten as well. Your right elbow ends up flying a long way away from your body unnecessarily and you're never really able to get your hands all the way back in front of your body in the downswing.

Thanks for all the advice. Very much welcome. Always knew the lack of wrist hinge was an issue for me.

I had a lesson today. First time with a new instructor. He had me doing the Faldo pre-set drill......

Getting some good feelings and results from this.

That could help. If you also just worked on a one piece takeaway and not rolling the forearms, this would also keep the clubhead from getting too inside. As long as you set the club dynamically, and not a pre set before the takeaway, thr Faldo drill is good.
