Titleist TSR1 Hybrid? Anyone tried it?

Has anyone tried it, I like the profile...but is it draw biased or too light?

As I just noted in the TSR Hybrid thread, the TSR1 hybrid head is only 2g lighter than the TSR2 head.  The real weight savings come from the lightweight shaft and lightweight grip.

I have a 26* on order with the HRZDUS hybrid shaft (R).  If it works, I'll pick up the 29*, and maybe the 23*.  I just ordered T300 irons, 7-iron to 9-iron, and a T100 PW, all with whippy senior graphite shafts.  It's come to this.

Yes, I’ve had the 5h and 6h in my bag all yr w the stock MMT shaft. I had the TSi1 hybrid before I got the TSR1 hybrids, and I hit the TSR1 hybrid higher, and about 1 club further than the TSi1. Great feel!  Great club!!!

The 26* TSR1 hybrid with an Atmos Red 70 gram shaft (R) was so good (ordered in September), that I ordered a 23* TSR1 with the same shaft.  Both are 1/2" long, which probably helps get the swingweight heavier.

 

The HZRDUS shaft at standard length was too light for me.

^^^ When you order, you can specify which weight comes with it.   I just go with stock 9g weight and order cheap weights from Aliexpress.

 

I have TSR1 in 26,23,20 but with my slower SS I have a bit of gapping issue between 23-20.  I’ll move one of them to my 2nd weekends-away bag.  I do have a TSR1 23 FW ( 9W ) in transit to me and will see how that works out ( probably set it to C1 ).

TSR1 6H with a PX Evenflow White 90 Stiff in mine.  Excellent club and shape blends well with my Apex UW’s and Paradym X hybrid.  
 

I tried the 7H as well but hit it too high and my 7 iron gives me a better flight and is forgiving enough. 

 

Very easy clubs to hit and I swapped out the weight for a 15g as I play the 6H 1/2” short to better fit my 6 iron gap that it replaces.  At stock length it was flying too far.

 

Great sound and feel.  I don’t find the 6H any higher flying than the Paradym X 5H that is in my bag.

 

I was a hybrid hater for many years but swing changes and evolution of hybrids that are more fairway wood like has me now carrying:

TSR2 3w

Apex UW 19

Apwx UW 21

Paradym X 5H

TSR1 6H

then start my irons at 7i -LW

 

Loft and length play a big part in gapping for me as I play most of my clubs at least 1/2” short.

I think lots of us gaming this.

Mine is long and straight, straightest hybrid i've ever had in the bag. It's my 215-230 club and depending on the swing i put on it, can hit it low or high. I was between this or a TSR2 7 wood but loving this.

Between the paradym x and tsr1 which would you say is closer to the apex uw?

They are all similar.  X feels and sounds more like the UW as the TSR1 has a bit more of a metallic sound and feel.

 

TSR1 head is a bit longer front to back, a deeper face but smallest heel to toe.

I have a 23* TSR1 on order.  I might go directly from there to my Ping G25 5-wood; or I might go to a TSR1 7-wood.  But I like to keep my bag light for walking, so the 23* hybrid and 7-wood would only go into the bag if I'm not walking.

I have done it.  Ordered a TSR1 29* hybrid, to go with the 23* and 26* hybrids that I have.  I was hitting the 26* hybrid (Atmos Tour Spec 75 R) the other night, and it was so much easier than my 7-iron.  I have always been a good fairway wood player, since I am a sweeper who does not hit down much on irons.

 

Bag: TSR1 12* driver (Ventus TR Red 5R), TSR1 5-wood (Ventus TR Red 6R), TSR1 hybrids 23*, 26* and now 29*; T200 9-iron, T150 PW, SM9 54* wedge.  9 club bag, which at my age is totally sufficient.  I could add a T300 8-iron if necessary.  When I walk and carry I will take out either the 23* or 26* hybrid, and perhaps the PW.  In that case I will use a T150 9-iron.

I recently replaced my 818H1 with the TSR1 in 20* and it has been awesome.  I haven't been overwhelmed by the last few generations of Titleist hybrids post 818, but wanted to experiment with it as a 4 hybrid / 7 wood experiment.  I am not seeing a lot more carry in comparison to my 818, but I am getting more height for sure.  I haven't had a lot of opportunities yet to take it outside (but this Ohio winter seems to be breaking up early) and see how easy it is to flight down, but even if it ends up a one-trick pony I think I am going to be okay with it. 

 

I did not find it to be anymore draw biased, and felt I could swing away with no fear of the left.  I don't use any hybrids below the 4, but if I did the footprint would be kind of the perfect transition from hybrid to fairway wood.
